I am 18 years old and I have been addicted for three years. Now, I want to stop , but one of my friends is an addicted too ; I advised him more than once with no avail. We never separate but I do not want to go back to drinking and smoking, what should I do?
Dear brother, Welcome to (Alukah) Website.
I have tried to read your message repeatedly to find a way out for you that ensures staying away from drinking and in the meantime to be with your friend, but with no avail.
One of the most important reasons for addiction is bad company.
So, you have to choose now, either to keep away from your friend or he stays away from drugs so as to help one another; there is no third solution .
Do you want me to tell you about the bad consequences of drugs and what it causes to the body and the mind?
I believe you are full-aware of that, and now you have a golden chance to see it off forever, otherwise the bad consequences are terrible.
I am writing these words while bearing in mind the images of dozens of youth who chose the way of drugs and ended up sick in psychological hospitals after the society had forsaken them without regret.
The world is a decision and choice, and the whole matter is in your hands, so be with Allah who is the only One who can protect and preserve you.
May Allah guide you to the best! And You are always welcomed.
