Zakah of two hundred Hadiths from the Prophet's Hadiths

Chosen by Sheikh `Abdul-Qadir Al Arna'ut

Bishr ibn Al Harith Al Hafy Al Marwazy Al Baghdady who died in (227 AH) said: O people of Hadith, give the Zakah of Hadith: Of every 200 Hadiths teach five Hadiths.

Here are five from the Hadiths of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him):

The first Hadith: Imam Ahmad reported in his Musnad and At-Tabarany in Al Mu`jam Al Kabir on the authority of Mu`adh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah advised me of these ten words, he said:

1- Do not associate anyone with Allah in worship even if you are to be killed or burnt.

2- Do not disobey your parents even if they command you to give up your family and money.

3- Do not leave an obligatory Salah intentionally because anyone leaves Salah intentionally Allah shall be free of him.

4- Do not drink wine because it is the top of every major sin.

5- Beware of sins because they bring about the wrath of Allah.

6- Beware of escaping battles even if all people are killed.

7- If death hits some people while you are among them, be firm.

8- Spend on your family of your money,

9- and do not leave your stick in order to behave them with,

10- and make them fear Allah. [It is a good Hadith].

The second Hadith:

Imam Ahmad reported in his Musnad on the authority of Abu Dhar Al Ghifary (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: My friend (the Prophet (peace be upon him)) advised me seven things:

1- He commanded me to love the needy and draw nearer to them.

2- He commanded me to look at those who are below me and not to look at those who are above me [in worldly material].

3- He commanded me to maintain the ties of kinship even if they desist.

4- He commanded me not to ask anyone anything.

5- He commanded me to say the truth even if it is bitter.

6- He commanded me not to fear the blame of the blamers [as long as what I am doing is in the cause of Allah].

7- He commanded me to say frequently: "No might nor strength save in Allah," because that statement is one of the treasures that are put under the Throne. [It is a good Hadith].

The third Hadith:

Al Bayhaqy reported in Shu`ab Al Iman on the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:

Three things rescue a person and three things destroy a person.

As for the things which rescue a person, they are: Fearing Allah (may He be Glorified and Exalted) in secret and in public, saying the truth in pleasure and displeasure, and spending moderately in poverty and richness.

As for the destructive actions: Miserliness, a followed whim, and self-conceit which is the harshest. [It is a good Hadith].

The fourth Hadith:

Imam Ahmad reported in his Musnad, Ibn Hibban in his Sahih, Al Hakim in his Mustadrak on Al Bukhari and Muslim, and Al Bayhaqy in Shu`ab Al Iman on the authority of `Ubadah ibn As-Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: Do six things and I guarantee Paradise for you: Be truthful when you speak, fulfill your promises if you make one, render the trust when you are entrusted, safeguard your private parts, lower your gazes, and withhold your hands [from taking unlawful things]. [It is a good Hadith].

The fifth Hadith:

Imam Ahmad reported in his Musnad and At-Tirmidhy in his Jami` [of Hadiths] on the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Who will learn from these words and act upon them, or teach them to one who will act upon them? Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I, O Messenger of Allah" He said: So, he took me by hand and counted five and said: "Guard against the things that are forbidden, you will be the most devout of men, and be pleased with what Allah has allotted you, you will be the richest of men; and be kind to your neighbor, you will be a believer; and love for people what you love for yourself, you will be a Muslim and do not laugh much for much laughter causes the heart to die." [It is a good Hadith].

If a knowledge seeker reads, memorizes, and acts according to these five Hadiths, they shall be sufficient for him in the world and in the Hereafter.

O Allah, grant us useful knowledge and righteous actions.

Those Hadiths were collected by the seeker of knowledge and the servant of the Sunnah, Sheikh:`Abdul-Qadir Al Arna`ut
