`Abdullah ibn Az-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saying on the day of Uhud (the Battle of Uhud): Talhah did what is suitable when he lowered his back to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) so that the Prophet (peace be upon him) would step on his back. [Reported by Imam Ahmad].

`A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated: When the Day of Uhud was mentioned before Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: That day was all for Talhah (because of his great actions which he did on that day).

Abu Bakr said: I was the first one to come on the Day of Uhud, so the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said to me and to Abu `Ubaydah ibn Al Jarrah, go and search for Talhah.

We healed the Prophet (peace be upon him) then we went to search for Talhah and found him in one of the pits and his body was covered by several and seventy stabs, strikes, and shooting with arrows, moreover one of his fingers was cut off, so we fixed some of his appearance. Abu Musa ibn Talhah reported on the authority of his father Talhah ibn `Ubaydullah who said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) came back from the Battle of Uhud, he ascended the pulpit and praised Allah too much, then recited the following Ayah: "Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allâh [i.e. they have gone out for Jihâd (holy fighting), and showed not their backs to the disbelievers]; of them some have fulfilled their obligations (i.e. have been martyred)." [Surat Al Ahzab: 23].

Someone stood up and said: Who are those, O Messenger of Allah? Ali and I brought a green garment (of Talhah), thereupon the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: (pointed at it and said:) This is one of them.

Sa`da bint `Awf said: One day Talhah came in and he was upset, I said: What is wrong with you? He said: My money is abundant and that bothers me a lot. I said: It is not a big deal, distribute it (to the poor) until no dirham is remained.

Talhah ibn Yahya said: I asked the keeper of Talhah's treasurer: How much was the money? He said: 400.000 dinars.

Al Hasan said: Talhah sold his land for 700.000 dinars, and that money remained with him for one night which caused him to lose sleep all night long for fear that he dies without distributing this money to the poor. When it was the morning, he distributed all of it. [Reported by Imam Ahmad].

He also narrated that Talhah ibn `Ubaydullah sold a land to `Uthman for 70.000 dinars, and he brought it to him.

When it came, a man said: Any person sleeps while having all these monies in his house does not know what Allah shall do with him because he believes that Allah will not harm him.
When he heard that, he sent his servants to distribute these monies to the Medina's poor until he had nothing of it by midnight.

Sa`da bint `Awf narrated that the wife of Talhah ibn `Ubaydullah said: One day Talhah gave 100.000 dinars in charity then he was late for going to the masjid because his garment was cut and I was sewing it for him [Despite his richness, he did not buy a new garment for himself and distributed all his money to the poor].[1]
