From the lamp of prophethood

Where is your uncle's son?

Translated by: Alamgeer Usmani.

Praise be to Allah, the All-Aware, the Watchful, the All-knowing, the, Most Generous of great favors.

“If you count the bounties of Allah, you cannot count them all. Surely, Allah is Most-Forgiving, Very-Merciful".

And I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone who has no partner. He is Compassionate, Wise, and Forbearing, and I bear witness that our Prophet Muhammad is the servant of Allah and His Messenger, the Chosen One, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, his family and his good companions; Afterwards:

So, I advise you and myself to fear Allah, and to strive against the soul and Satan to attain the higher degree of faith and perfection:

﴿ لِّلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُواْ فِي هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةٌ وَلَدَارُ الآخِرَةِ خَيْرٌ وَلَنِعْمَ دَارُ الْمُتَّقِينَ ﴾ [النحل30].

” For those who do good, there is good (end) in this world, and indeed the abode of the Hereafter is much better. Excellent is the abode of the God-fearing”.

Servants of the Most Merciful,

The narratives of the Prophet’s biography sooths the dryness of the soul, increases faith and enlightens the insight of the Muslim. Let us ponder over a prophetic stance of exuding fragrance biography, and then we would extract some benefits from this prophetic stance.

It is reported on the authority of Sahl bin Saad Al-Saadi, may Allah be pleased with him, he said: There was no name dearer to `Ali than Abu Turab (for it was given to him by the Prophet himself) and he felt delighted when he was called by this name. He (the governor) said to him: Narrate to us the story of his being named as Abu Turab. He said: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came to the house of Fatima and he did not find `Ali in the house; whereupon he said: Where is your uncle's son? She said: (There cropped up something) between me and him which had annoyed him with me. He went out and did not rest here. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) asked a person to find out where he was. He came and said: Allah's Messenger, he is sleeping in the mosque. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came to him and found him lying in the mosque and saw that his mantle had slipped from his back and his back was covered with dust and Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) began to wipe it away from him (from the body of Hadrat `Ali) saying: Get up, covered with dust (Abu Turab); get up, covered with dust. Narrated by Muslim and Bukhri.

First lesson:

The Prophet PBUH communicated with his daughter (Fatima) in the marital home and visited her, and he did not stand up to his right that as a father he should be visited, rather, he would hasten to visit her in her home, as she also used to visit him at his home because of presence of paternal affection between the prophet PBUH and Fatima, the mistress of the women of the worlds, may Allah be pleased with her.

Second lesson

Fatima, may Allah be pleased with her, expressed the high ethic and the good taste when she expressed nicely what happened between her and her husband: “There was something between him and me, and he angered me, then went out.” She did not go into detail, and did not specify the responsibility of the mistake, but rather made it a common matter. There is something between me and him."

Dear Beloveds,

When the wife makes her tongue an open window of her house in every small and large matter, she loses her privacy and widens the circle of her problems and does not control the resulted repercussions to enter from many sides into a small problem.

Third lesson:

The Prophet, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, responded in general by abandoning the details, so, he did not ask Fatimah what happened between the two of you? He did not compel her to narrate the details of what happened, rather neglected that and searched for her husband, who came out angry from house.

Dealing with transient marital problems without entering into them, makes them small transient.

Fourth lesson:

Dealing the Prophet PBUH with his daughter’s husband who angered her with a caring fatherhood was, in order to make him feel that the fatherhood of the Prophet includes both of them. Prophet PBUH comes to him while he is sleeping, wipes the dirt with his honorable hand from his side and says in caring tone: “Get up, Abu turab, get up, Abu turab", This is a kindness friendly behavior to the soul, Because of this, we called Hazrat Ali with this nickname taken from his condition. And prophet did not admonish him for his anger at his daughter despite Fatima has high rank before prophet!

May Allah benefit me and you with the holy Quran and the Sunnah, and the wisdom and verse which are in them, and ask Allah’s forgiveness that He is the most Forgiving.

second sermon

Praise be to Allah.

Afterwards,

Among the lessons of the previous story is: the wisdom of Ali’s behavior, may Allah be pleased with him, in dealing with marital disputes in which the anger was present, Because, his leaving the house and his naps in the mosque was in order to break the continuation of communication and to keep himself away from quarrels. And it is an opportunity for feelings to calm down, along with it, the anger cools down and souls return to normal condition of love and compassion.

Sixth lesson:

Vertu of Hazrat Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, and his high rank before the Messenger of Allah, PBUH as the prophet asked about him and then walked up to him and wiped the dirt from his side, and called him with a nickname and did not reprimand him for anything.

Seventh lesson:

The effect of this tenderness remained pleasant in the soul of Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, and his happiness with it continued to be overwhelming, and he loved to be called him as “Abu Turab”. Sahl bin Saad, may Allah be pleased with him, said: “Ali had no name more beloved to him than Abu Turab, and he felt delighted when he was called by this name.

And after that:

إن الصلاةَ على النبيِ هدايةٌ
فلتتخذ منها لدينك سُلَّما
ترقى بها عند الإله فردِّدوا
صلى الإله على النبي وسلَّما

(Prayers upon the Prophet is a guidance.

Take it as a ladder to your religion

Ascend with it to God, so repeat it

May Allah bless the Prophet; peace be upon him)
