Open Search is one of the features of Alukah Network

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of mankind, and peace be upon the one who was sent as a mercy for the world.

Dear valued visitors, Alukah is pleased to present to you distinct services to cope with the latest technology in the world. We shall give you explanation for some features of the Network which have been hidden from the visitors of the Network because we have not announced them yet. Perhaps we should start in this article to view one of these features which is Open Search.

What is Open Search?

Open Search is a feature enables integration between the search tools of Alukah and the searchers through different tools and programs, of which, for example: Internet Explorer and Firefox.

Let us assume that a site offers the service of searching in Islamic or Arabic sites through grouping search results from several sources, such as: Google, and Bing, now the site may add Alukah Network as one of the search sources and showing their results directly.

How can we benefit from this service?

Now, you may use this service directly through adding the search engine of Alukah to the list of search engines you have in your browser to be able to search the Network without visiting it, then use the search box by clicking the link in the bottom of the page.

Moreover, you may use these additional steps:

A- in Internet Explorer 8:

1- When you visit Alukah Network, you shall notice that the arrow beside the search box has brightened to indicate the activation of the advanced search service of the Site.

2- When clicking the arrow, we notice the presence of search option in Alukah search engine

3- You may choose "search in Alukah Network" for search only, but to benefit from full features you should add the search engine of Alukah permanently to "the Explorer" by choosing Add Search Providers then choose "Search in Alukah"

4- The options of adding will appear to you, of which, make Alukah Search Engine your default search engine and activating the service of "Suggestions".

5- The search service is now integrated in "the Explorer". You can click it to search Alukah Network anytime.

6- If you activate "the suggestions service," when writing some letters, Alukah shall suggest for you titles of some articles where you may go directly to the article by clicking its title, however if you press enter, it will directly go to the search results page in Alukah Network.

We notice that at writing the word "Features" some suggested articles showed to me containing the word and articles grouped by its type (articles, audio book, etc.) and when choosing any article, "the Explorer" will directly go to the article.

However, unfortunately this service is available only in "the Explorer" but in other browsers the suggested articles appear without details and when clicking them, the browser opens the search page.

B- In Firefox:

1- When visiting Alukah Network using Firefox and by clicking the arrow beside the search box, the option of adding Alukah Search Engine to search engines appears to you.

It is worthy to mention that this service is one of the smart and interactive services of Alukah Network which we are still improving to live up to your expectations.
