What is the solution?

I have tried to read your message repeatedly to find a way out for you that ensures staying away from drinking and in the meantime to be with your friend, but with no avail.

One of the most important reasons for addiction is bad company.

So, you have to choose now, either to keep away from your friend or he stays away from drugs so as to help one another; there is no third solution .
