71- Their prophet Hud said to them: Wrath and anger, torment and revenge were ordained to you, do you fight and argue with me regarding the names which you and your fathers set for these idols, and made them gods without a proof?

It was said: They called those idols creators, providers, senders of rain, and other descriptions.

So, wait for the coming of torment as you requested, and I will be waiting for the punishment to befall on you.

72- After awhile the torment which they requested befell on them, whereas Hud and those who believed with him were rescued by Our Mercy and Compassion. We also destroyed the disbelievers who belied our Messenger and showed haughtiness to believe in our Ayahs, so we eradicated them to their last remnant, however they did not believe as others believed to save themselves but insisted on disbelief and belying.

73- Furthermore, we sent to the tribe of Thamud their brother Salih (peace be upon him) and they lived in the area between Hijaz and the Levant (Midian Salih in the country of the Two Sacred Sites in our time). He said to them when they disbelieved: O my people, worship Allah alone and do not associate idols that do not speak or hear with Allah in worship. You do not have any other god, and this is a miracle which indicates the truthfulness of my prophethood and my message to you. This is the she-camel that was sent by Allah and none of humans own, so leave it eat the grass in the wide land of Allah and do not stretch out your hands with any harm to it such as slaughtering or beating so as not to be afflicted by the torment of Allah.

74- And remember the favors of Allah on you, where He made you successors on the earth after the people of `Ad and made you dwell in the land of Hijr (between Hijaz and the Levant). You were building lofty buildings in its plains, dig mountains to build houses, and dwell therein in winter. So, remember the Favors of Allah and do not corrupt the earth in order not to be evil-doers who deserve punishment.

75- The Gentlemen and the leaders —who showed haughtiness from the people of Salih who did not listen to his advice and mocked at the miracle which supported his prophethood— said to the weak believers in mockery and irony: Are you sure that Salih is a sent prophet from Allah to you? They said: We do believe in that and we have no doubt.

76- The haughty disbelievers said to them in pride and rudeness: We deny his prophethood and we do not admit it as you did.

77- So, they slaughtered the she-camel, showed haughtiness, and refused to comply to the command of their Lord then they stood in a challenge before him saying: O Salih, bring the punishment which you promised us if you are truly a sent prophet.

78- Thus, Allah destroyed them by a severe shake from underneath and a strong cry from above, so they became helpless in their houses, dead, and not moving.

79- So, Salih turned away from them while he felt sad for missing faith, and addressed them as our Prophet (peace be upon him) addressed the dead idolaters in the Battle of Badr: O people, I have conveyed to you the message of my Lord as He commanded, therein was your winning and salvation even if you had obeyed and did not show stubbornness. Verily, I advised you as should, and I am really feel pity for you and I hoped you had believed but you do not like advisors and defy the loyal ones; thus was your retribution, and in the Hereafter there will be a severe and everlasting torment.

80- We sent Lot as a Prophet to his people who lived around the dead see in Palestine. He said to them: Do you commit an ugly and deniable immorality that no one preceded you in committing it?
