Praise be to Allah, we praise Him and seek His Help and Forgiveness. We seek refuge with Allah against the evils of ourselves and the evils of our actions. Whom Allah guides no one can mislead and whoever has been misled no one can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone who has no partner and I bear witness that Muhammad is His Servant and Messenger.

"O you who believe! Do your duty to Allâh and fear Him. And seek the means of approach to Him, and strive hard in His Cause (as much as you can), so that you may be successful." [Surat Al Ma'idah: 35].

O servants of Allah, it was reported in Sahih Muslim from `Ata' ibn Abu Rabah who said: Ibn `Abbas said to me: "Shall I show you a woman of the people of Paradise? I said: Yes. He said: This black lady came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said: I get attacks of epilepsy and my body becomes uncovered; please invoke Allah for me. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said (to her): If you wish, be patient and you will have (enter) Paradise; and if you wish, I will invoke Allah to cure you. She said: I will remain patient, and added: but I become uncovered, so please invoke Allah for me that I may not become uncovered. So he invoked Allah for her."

O those who offer Salah, indeed what aggrieved the woman was not her epilepsy and unconsciousness, but the uncovering of part of her body. However, scholars said that women of that time used to lower a hand span of their clothes on the ground, so only a small part of her leg was uncovered. You may compare this to the conditions of our women today.

O servants of Allah, the People of the Pre-Islamic Period used to kill their daughters alive, and whomever escaped from killing was given along with inheritance like furniture. Yet, Islam gave women the right of inheritance and prohibited sons from marrying the wives of their deceased father. "And marry not women whom your fathers married, except what has already passed" [Surat An-Nisa': 22]. Moreover, Islam honored women and raised their status by legislating rights and rulings for them.

Today, we shall speak about some rulings pertaining to women:

1- The clothes of women in the presence of women and their unmarriageable relatives should be covering, wide, opaque, not showing the details of her body, and not to look like the clothes of men.

It was reported in Sahih Muslim that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "There are two types of people who will be punished in Hell and whom I have not seen: men having whips like the tails of cows and they will be beating people with them, and women who will be dressed but appear to be naked, inviting to evil; and they themselves will be inclined to it. Their heads will appear like the humps of the Bactrian camel inclined to one side. They will not enter Paradise and they will not smell its fragrance which is perceptible from such and such a distance."

The Permanent Committee of Ifta' said in one of its answers: The meaning of " women who will be dressed but appear to be naked" is that a woman wears some clothes that do not cover her entire body, so she is really naked, such as: Wearing a transparent garment that shows the color of her skin, a tight dress that shows the details of her body, or short dress that leaves part of her body uncovered.

Unfortunately, people exert a lot of efforts nowadays to find a covering nice dress because the exhibited clothes are not decent.

Dear Muslim brothers, one of the functions of Satan is to expose things that should be covered: "O Children of Adam! Let not Shaitan (Satan) deceive you, as he got your parents [Adam and Hawwa (Eve)] out of Paradise, stripping them of their raiments, to show them their private parts." [Surat Al A`raf: 27]. Exposing private parts is one of the grievous reasons of corruption and lewdness. Allah (Glory be to Him) says: "O you who believe! Follow not the footsteps of Shaitan (Satan). And whosoever follows the footsteps of Shaitan (Satan), then, verily he commands Al-Fahsha' [i.e. to commit indecency (illegal sexual intercourse, etc.)], and Al-Munkar [disbelief and polytheism (i.e. to do evil and wicked deeds" [Surat An-Nur: 21].

2- Of the rulings which women ask frequently about is Tashqir Al Hawajib (coloring eyebrows with the color of the body to look thinner). Scholars differed about this issue: Some permitted and some prohibited. Some scholars prohibited the matter because it is similar to Nams (removing hair from the eyebrows) and it is part of changing the creation of Allah. So, women who follow a certain juristic view should stick to it as long as they are sure of the soundness of that view, but abandoning it is better.

As for taking something from the eyebrows, it is one of the major sins which the Prophet (peace be upon him) cursed its doer as was reported in the Hadith of Ibn Mas`ud in Sahih Muslim.

The Permanent Committee said in one of its answers: "It is not permissible to remove something from the eyebrows by cutting, clipping, or delimiting because this is the meaning of Nams of which the Prophet (peace be upon him) warned as being one of the major sins.

May Allah bless the Glorious Qur'an and its Ayahs for you and me.

I ask for Allah's Forgiveness for you and me, for He is the Most Merciful, the Oft-Forgiving.

Second Sermon

All praise be to Allah who says: "O you who believe! Ward off from yourselves and your families a Fire (Hell)." [Surat At-Tahrim: 6].

And peace be upon Prophet Muhammad ibn `Abdullah, upon his family, his Companions, and those who follow him.

Of the issues which most women neglect is covering the feet before marriageable relatives despite the consensus of the scholars that women's feet must be covered before marriageable relatives.

As for covering the hands, some scholars said: It is desirable that they should be covered, whereas others said: It is obligatory to cover them because of the general meaning of the Hadith which reads: "A woman must observe the veil because when she comes out, the devil seeks an opportunity to tempt her." [Reported by At-Tirmidhy, and Al Albany graded it as authentic].

It was reported in Sahih Al Bukhari that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The Muhrima (a woman in the state of Ihram) should not cover her face, or wear gloves."

So, forbidding a Muhrima from wearing Niqab during Ihram proves that it was worn before wearing Ihram which is the sound view to which proofs indicated and consequently was the Fatwa.

Finally, I shall speak about something that started to show up among women which is installing artificial eyelashes. The Permanent Committee was asked about eyelashes and it answered as follows: It is included in the prohibition which the Prophet (peace be upon him) set in extending the natural hair with artificial one as was reported in Sahih Al Bukhari.

A Muslim does not satisfy that one of his women goes under the threat and the curse of the Prophet (peace be upon him) by doing any of the actions that were prohibited.

Dear Muslim brothers, Allah says: "Verily, there has come unto you a Messenger (Muhammad) from amongst yourselves (i.e. whom you know well). It grieves him that you should receive any injury or difficulty. He (Muhammad) is anxious over you (to be rightly guided, to repent to Allah, and beg Him to pardon and forgive your sins, in order that you may enter Paradise and be saved from the punishment of the Hell-fire), for the believers (he SAW is) full of pity, kind, and merciful." [Surat At-Tawbah: 128].

Our Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Everyone of you is a guardian and is responsible for his charges. The ruler who has authority over people, is a guardian and is responsible for them, a man is a guardian of his family and is responsible for them; a woman is a guardian of her husband's house and children and is responsible for them; a slave ('Abd) is a guardian of his master's property and is responsible for it; so all of you are guardians and are responsible for your charges."

Allah also says: "The believers, men and women, are Auliya' (helpers, supporters, friends, protectors) of one another, they enjoin (on the people) Al-Ma'ruf (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam orders one to do), and forbid (people) from Al-Munkar (i.e. polytheism and disbelief of all kinds, and all that Islam has forbidden)" [Surat At-Tawbah: 71].

Our women are full of goodness, sometimes they commit sins but ignorantly not on purpose, therefore it is obligatory to explain and remind them. So, it is the responsibility of the husband to admonish his wife and daughters.

Send peace and blessings to the best of all creatures about whom Allah (Glory be to Him) said: "Allah sends His Salat (Graces, Honors, Blessings, Mercy, etc.) on the Prophet (Muhammad SAW) and also His angels too (ask Allah to bless and forgive him). O you who believe! Send your Salat on (ask Allah to bless) him (Muhammad SAW), and (you should) greet (salute) him with the Islamic way of greeting (salutation i.e. AsSalamu 'Alaikum)." [Surat Al Ahzab: 56].

O Allah, send peace and blessings upon Muhammad and his family as You sent peace and blessings upon Abraham and the family of Abraham, verily You are full of praise and majesty.
