Venerable Companions in lines of light (1)

First Episode:  Abu Bakr As-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him)

He who had good attributes, pure soul, and truthful tongue.

The reasonable person who was crowned with dignity and spirit which is flowing with sweetness and love.

He is the greatest person after prophets, the Companion of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) in the greatest migration, and accompanied the Prophet (peace be upon him) in the cave.

He was known for his strong determination and good conscience, forbearance, humbleness, courage, and being kind to the poor.

He was generous and never closed his door in the face of a needy, the one with a smiling face who did not frown in others' faces, humble, cooperative, kind to the children, and respectful for old people.

Is not such a person with all these qualities worthy to be given glad tiding to enter Paradise? Yes. He is one of those people who were given glad tiding of Paradise.

Yes, he is `Abdullah ibn Abu Quhafah At-Taymy Al Qurashy who was born in Makkah in year 51 before migration.

• He was the first man to embrace Islam and many Companions embraced Islam at his hand.

• He was the father of `A'ishah, the mother of the believers, as well as the father of the great Companion Asma’ (of the two waistbands).

• One day he was walking in one of the pathways of Makkah and saw Umayyah ibn Khalaf torturing Bilal heavily, thereupon he said to Umayyah:" "Do not you fear Allah while torturing that poor person?" He said: "You spoiled him, so rescue him if you can", Abu Bakr said: "I shall do, I have a black boy who is more forbearing and stronger than him and believes in your religion; shall I give him to you for Bilal?" He said: "I accept." He said: "Then he is yours." Abu Bakr As-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) gave him the boy and took Bilal whom he freed later."

• He was nicknamed with the truthful because he believed in the Prophet's message as well as believed him in the news of Al Isra' wa Al Mi`raj (the night journey and ascension).

• When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) told him that he benefited a lot from his money, he cried and said: May myself and my money be ransomed for you, O Messenger of Allah!

• He took over succession after the Prophet of Allah.

• He sent the army of Usamah to fight the Romans in the Levant (the region covering Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and Palestine).

• He fought the apostates and gained victory over them.

• Then he commanded the Qur'an to be collected for fear of loss.

• Not only this but the Islamic opening in Iraq and the Levant took place in his time. It is enough honor for him that when Ali was asked who is the best of people after the Prophet (peace be upon him), he referred to him (may Allah be pleased with all the Companions).

These are the most eminent actions of that great heart, the wise caller to Islam, and the most truthful, Abu Bakr As-Siddiq who offered the most precious of what he owned. He offered for the sake of his Companion, the Prophet (peace be upon him), every dear and precious. The great and venerable Companion continued his way in the journey of light until he died in 13th year of migration and was buried next to the Prophet (peace be upon him) in the age of sixty three. May Allah be pleased with Abu Bakr for what he offered to Islam and Muslims.
