General errors in the month of Ramadan: Not rejoicing at the advent of Ramadan for it shall prevent desires and pleasures

Praise be to Allah (may He be Exalted). We praise Him, seek His help and forgiveness, and we seek refuge with Allah against the evils of our own selves and our bad actions. Whom Allah guides, there is no one can mislead and whoever has been misled no one can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone who has no partner and I bear witness that Muhammad is His Servant and Messenger.

"O you who believe! Fear Allâh (by doing all that He has ordered and by abstaining from all that He has forbidden) as He should be feared. [Obey Him, be thankful to Him, and remember Him always], and die not except in a state of Islâm [as Muslims (with complete submission to Allâh)]." [Surat Al `Imran: 102].

"O mankind! Be dutiful to your Lord, Who created you from a single person (Adam), and from him (Adam) He created his wife [Hawwâ' (Eve)], and from them both He created many men and women; and fear Allâh through Whom you demand (your mutual rights), and (do not cut the relations of) the wombs (kinship). Surely, Allâh is Ever an All-Watcher over you." [Surat An-Nisa': 1].

"O you who believe! Keep your duty to Allâh and fear Him, and speak (always) the truth. * He will direct you to do righteous good deeds and will forgive you your sins. And whosoever obeys Allâh and His Messenger (peace be upon him), he has indeed achieved a great achievement (i.e. he will be saved from the Hell-fire and will be admitted to Paradise)." [Surat Al Ahzab: 70 - 71].

The most truthful speech is the Book of Allah (may He be Exalted) and the best guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace be upon him). The worst matters are the innovated, and every innovated is a heresy and every heresy is a deviation and every aberrance is in fire.

There are some mistakes which some people fall into when receiving Ramadan, of which:

Not rejoicing at the advent of Ramadan for it shall prevent desires and pleasures:

Headless people and evil-doers receive Ramadan heavily and count its days, nights, and hours because Ramadan blocks desires and prevents them from pleasures. A poet said:

I wish the night is like a month, whereas its daytime passes as clouds pass.

Not rejoicing at Ramadan is part of not showing glorification to the sacred rites of Allah. So, oneself should be glad of the advent of this great month and rejoice at the advent of this odd month which comes after long absence. Moreover, getting ready to Ramadan and rejoicing at its advent is part of glorifying the sacred rites of Allah (Blessed and Exalted be He) who says: "Thus it is [what has been mentioned in the above said Verses (27, 28, 29, 30, 31) is an obligation that mankind owes to Allâh] and whosoever honors the Symbols of Allâh, then it is truly from the piety of the hearts." [Surat Al Hajj: 32].

We all have to know that abandoning lusts in the world for the sake of Allah is a cause for winning Paradise, and this is taken from the Prophet's saying: "Whoever drinks alcoholic drinks in the world and does not repent (before dying), will be deprived of it in the Hereafter." [Reported by Al Bukhari and Muslim].

• The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:  "Whoever wears silk in this world, shall not wear it in the Hereafter." [Reported by Al Bukhari and Muslim].

• The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:  "Whoever gives up wearing elegant and expensive garments out of humbleness, when he can do so, Allah will call him on the Day of Resurrection and before all the creations, He will give him the choice to wear whichever garment of Iman he would like to wear." [Reported by At-Tirmidhy].

• The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:  "Indeed, Allah (Exalted and Glorified be He) decreed on Himself that whoever gives up drinking [by fasting] in a hot day, Allah shall quench his thirst at the Day of Thirst i.e., the Day of Judgment." [Reported by Al Bazzar].

• In another narration: "Indeed, Allah (Glory be to Him) decreed on Himself that whoever gives up drinking [by fasting] for the sake of Allah in a hot day, it will be the duty of Allah to water him on the Day of Recompense."

• The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:  "There is a gate in Paradise called Ar-Raiyan from which those who observe fast will enter on the Day of Resurrection and none except them will enter through it. It will be said: Where are those who used to observe fasts? They will get up, and none except them will enter through it. After their entry, the gate will be closed and nobody will enter through it." [Reported by Al Bukhari and Muslim].

• In another narration of Ibn Khuzaymah: "When the last of them enters, the gate shall be closed. Whoever enters shall drink and whoever drinks shall never feel thirst."

There are some proofs which indicate that if man hastens to indulge into pleasures and desires which the Lord of the earth and heavens forbids them to do shall be deprived them in the Hereafter. And whoever leaves them in the world shall have them in the Hereafter.
