Surat Al A`raf (51-60)

}الَّذِينَ اتَّخَذُواْ دِينَهُمْ لَهْواً وَلَعِباً وَغَرَّتْهُمُ الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا فَالْيَوْمَ نَنسَاهُمْ كَمَا نَسُواْ لِقَاء يَوْمِهِمْ هَـذَا وَمَا كَانُواْ بِآيَاتِنَا يَجْحَدُونَ} [الأعراف: 51]

51- Those are the disbelievers who mocked at the religion of Allah, which they were commanded to follow, rather than receiving it truthfully and seriously. So, they lawfulized and prohibited things according to their whims, moreover they were deceived by the adornments of the world, which distracted them from thinking about the Hereafter. Thus, they turned away and forgot it, and today we shall leave them in torment and treat them as they used to treat the religion, as they forgot the concern of this great Day, and as they denied the great signs in worldly life which will be proofs against them.

}وَلَقَدْ جِئْنَاهُم بِكِتَابٍ فَصَّلْنَاهُ عَلَى عِلْمٍ هُدًى وَرَحْمَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ} [الأعراف: 52]

52- We revealed the Qur'an and explained its meanings concerning faith and detailed its rulings, admonition, stories, promises, and threats. We are full-aware of its details, so it came precise, detailed, and a proof against the disbelievers, guidance to the truth, and goodness and happiness for the believers.

}هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلاَّ تَأْوِيلَهُ يَوْمَ يَأْتِي تَأْوِيلُهُ يَقُولُ الَّذِينَ نَسُوهُ مِن قَبْلُ قَدْ جَاءتْ رُسُلُ رَبِّنَا بِالْحَقِّ فَهَل لَّنَا مِن شُفَعَاء فَيَشْفَعُواْ لَنَا أَوْ نُرَدُّ فَنَعْمَلَ غَيْرَ الَّذِي كُنَّا نَعْمَلُ قَدْ خَسِرُواْ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يَفْتَرُونَ} [الأعراف: 53]

53- Verily, those disbelievers who do not believe in the Qur'an do not wait but the torment which they were promised, for the torment is the proof to the promise and the threat of Allah. When this terrible interpretation comes on the Day of Recompense, those who left it behind their backs and turned away from it in worldly life will say: It has become clear that the Messengers of Allah whom we used to mock at and fight had come with the truth. So, are there any supporters to intercede for us to get rid of that torment or to go back to the world to believe, obey, do righteously, and do not deny the Ayahs and signs of our Lord?!

They have lost themselves when they refused the truth, thus they subject to destruction and torment and their false gods neither defended nor availed them.

}إِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ اللّهُ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ ثُمَّ اسْتَوَى عَلَى الْعَرْشِ يُغْشِي اللَّيْلَ النَّهَارَ يَطْلُبُهُ حَثِيثاً وَالشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ وَالنُّجُومَ مُسَخَّرَاتٍ بِأَمْرِهِ أَلاَ لَهُ الْخَلْقُ وَالأَمْرُ تَبَارَكَ اللّهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ} [الأعراف: 54]

54- Verily, your creator and owner is Allah who created the seven heavens and the seven earths in six days.

Sa`id ibn Jubayr (may Allah bestow mercy on his soul) said: Allah (Glory be to Him) was able to create the Heavens and earths in a twinkle of an eye, but He created them in six days to teach His Servants to be sure and do things moderately.

Then our Lord rose over the Throne by the way He meant as it is suitable for His Glory.

Then night comes to cover the day with its darkness and day covers night by its light, and each one of them pursues the other to take its place continuously.

Allah created the sun, the moon, and the stars for you and nothing of them can rebel against His Command. He owns the creation because He is their creator and owner, and to Him is the return because He manages and disposes them as He wills; Exalted and Glorified be He, the owner of all creation.

}ادْعُواْ رَبَّكُمْ تَضَرُّعاً وَخُفْيَةً إِنَّهُ لاَ يُحِبُّ الْمُعْتَدِينَ} [الأعراف: 55]

55- Invoke your Lord and ask Him in submission and in secret to show your submission, reverence, and sincerity; verily Allah does not love those who transgress the proper limits either in supplication or elsewhere. So, do not ask for the things which you do not own or things which are inappropriate or things which are impossible to happen and do not invoke Him for a sin.

}وَلاَ تُفْسِدُواْ فِي الأَرْضِ بَعْدَ إِصْلاَحِهَا وَادْعُوهُ خَوْفاً وَطَمَعاً إِنَّ رَحْمَتَ اللّهِ قَرِيبٌ مِّنَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ} [الأعراف: 56]

56- Do not spoil the earth with sins and aggression against peoples' properties and do not corrupt lineages, attribute lies against Allah, and all kinds of corruptions after Allah had reformed the earth by sending Messengers and revealing the Shari`ah. Invoke Him out of fear of His Anger and Punishment, and hope for His Mercy, Forgiveness, and Reward because the reward of Allah is near to His Servants who follow His Commands and fear His Punishment.

}وَهُوَ الَّذِي يُرْسِلُ الرِّيَاحَ بُشْراً بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَحْمَتِهِ حَتَّى إِذَا أَقَلَّتْ سَحَاباً ثِقَالاً سُقْنَاهُ لِبَلَدٍ مَّيِّتٍ فَأَنزَلْنَا بِهِ الْمَاء فَأَخْرَجْنَا بِهِ مِن كُلِّ الثَّمَرَاتِ كَذَلِكَ نُخْرِجُ الْموْتَى لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ} [الأعراف: 57]

57- He is Allah who sends the wind to give glad tidings with rain. When the wind carries the clouds which are full of water vapor, we drive them to a barren land to send down rain and grow plants, trees, and all kinds of fruits. As we revive the earth after its death, we revive bodies after they had been decayed so that you would know that the one who is able to do all these is Allah who is capable of doing everything.

}وَالْبَلَدُ الطَّيِّبُ يَخْرُجُ نَبَاتُهُ بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِ وَالَّذِي خَبُثَ لاَ يَخْرُجُ إِلاَّ نَكِداً كَذَلِكَ نُصَرِّفُ الآيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَشْكُرُونَ} [الأعراف: 58]

58- The good land produces good and fruitful plants by the will of Allah, whereas the barren land does not produce but few and unfruitful plants. Thus, we explain the manifest signs which indicate the power of Allah, and we repeat them for those who ponder over and take a lesson to thank Allah for His Blessings.

}لَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحاً إِلَى قَوْمِهِ فَقَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُواْ اللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَـهٍ غَيْرُهُ إِنِّيَ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ} [الأعراف: 59]

59- We sent Noah as a Prophet to his people where idol worshipping prevailed in Iraq. He said to them warningly: O people, worship Allah alone and do not associate partners with Him because you do not have another god to worship. So, if you insist on worshipping idols and do not worship your lord, I fear that a great punishment will hit you.

}قَالَ الْمَلأُ مِن قَوْمِهِ إِنَّا لَنَرَاكَ فِي ضَلاَلٍ مُّبِينٍ} [الأعراف: 60]

60- The leaders and well-to-do people said: We see you straying from the truth when you call us to give up idol worshipping because our forefathers used to worship them, and we do not believe in your prophethood.
