MALACCA: Celebrity Indonesian Chef Wali Amrullah Abbas was given the honour to taste the first Ramadan serving prepared by Hatten Hotel Malacca.

The exotic Ramadan buffet was later served to 40 orphans from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Harapan, here.

Hatten Hotel invited Wali Amrullah and the children as special guests to the exclusive dinner party on the fourth day of Ramadan at Chatterz as an early Raya treat.

The children were among the first to walk amidst the hotel’s vibrant décor which this year is inspired by the ancient cities in Morocco. An ethnic summer house, vintage lanterns and colourful drapes adorn the hotel’s main lobby.

Hatten Hotel general manager, Chuck Kassim said they had decided to arrange a special donation campaign in support of Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Harapan.

“As part of our ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, we will donate RM1 for every guest who purchases a Ramadan Buffet.

The total collection will be issued to the orphanage in time for the Hari Raya celebrations,” he said.

Chuck Kassim said the hotel was grateful for the opportunity given in reaching out to more members of our community.

“We hope that this small gesture will help make this Raya more happy and memorable for the children,” he added.

The hotel’s team of chefs have also unveiled an inspired new theme for its “Berbuka Puasa” feast.

From now until July 28, diners can savour authentic, wholesome Indonesian fare from a vast buffet selection.

To kick-start an unforgettable journey towards Hari Raya 2014, diners can enjoy a unique selection of “berbuka puasa” dishes designed and crafted especially by Wali.

The culinary genius has most graciously agreed to tantalise Malaccans’ taste buds with his culinary artistry based on the rich textures and quintessential flavours of his homeland.

“I am proud to be able to serve the food of my homeland to my friends in Malacca. It feels like I’m sharing my culture, my passion and my country with more people around the world,” said Wali.
