The Economics of Fasting

The islamic fast in the islamic custom,ts terminology is to hold on to certain things in a special time from a special person, as our Scholars said.

Fasting is the ability of patience, because one of the causes of the disaster that has befallen us today is the slowness of consumption, waste and the distance from valuable debt. Allah Almighty said " And Allah presents an example: a city which was safe and secure, its provision coming to it in abundance from every location, but it denied the favors of Allah . So Allah made it taste the envelopment of hunger and fear for what they had been doing”Al-Nahl 112. To find out the story of Qarun as stated in the Qur'an (Al- kassas : 76:83), Firaun and others who came to the grace of Alllah.

The quantities purchased on normal days are exponentially increased during Ramadan, although it contains only two meals.

It is clear that there is a direct link between the month of fasting and the excessive consumer avid. One is surprised by this consumerist concern that is common to the general public this month. Everyone is running towards the circle of consumption and preparation for consumption in Ramadan, starting early with a terrible machine of advertising and advertising that surrounds the family all the time and through more than one means, and therefore One is prepared to fall into a terrible cycle of consumption. The wife is pushing for more, the children are being inspired by their consumer demands, and one himself has a bad state to buy anything expendable.

Fasting has great economic dimensions, such as what the human mind realizes, such as its impact on human health, human wealth, and some of which the human mind cannot. So Blessed is he who is following the example of fasting and performing Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace.

One of the meanings of fasting is that it is a hold of abdominal lust, and in the economic sense it is a reduction in spending, or a rationalization of spending. Moreover, the extravagant spending in Ramadan cannot be consistent with the situation of our Muslim societies, which are mostly developing societies that require the preservation of every effort and every possibility of waste and loss of resources. Consumerism, and what we make in Ramadan is a waste of material potential that we have misplaced, a waste of the lofty values that we have demanded the Islamic religion to uphold, and a waste of strong behavior is conviction.

The month of fasting is undoubtedly an opportunity in which our nation's members learn a benign economic habit of rationalizing spending, The month of fasting is a periodic opportunity to learn about the list of due expenditures, an opportunity to prioritize, and an opportunity to know the level of surplus possible that should be directed to investment purposes.

The month of fasting is an opportunity for those who are able to clarify the feelings of those in need, but this is linked to several factors, including: fasting has an impact on those who are able to do so in the face of those in need, including the availability of a religious sense that guarantees appreciation. It is appropriate for the need to atone for the atonement and the importance of removing zakat al- fitr, including the good guidance of these funds.

Moreover, a plan to counter consumerism is required during Ramadan and not for Ramadan. This state of growing consumerism in us is a sign of the enormous extent of behavioural backwardness experienced by our Muslim societies, and the meditator of garbage bins and bags believes that we need to restore Consider our values of consumption towards adjusting them to productive or rational consumer values.

After: These economic characteristics are inherent in the essence of fasting, as they are associated with economic forces such as consumption, expenditure, money, the degree of need and the degree of satisfaction. The movement of these characteristics and the revitalization of their effectiveness is the task of human beings in the fasting nation, at the level of individuals in order to control their consumption, to evaluate their economic behavior, and at the institutional level to provide for the systems to ensure By collecting and directing atonement funds, zakat and charity funds, and employing its economic strength.

Thus, the key to a real crisis solution lies in consumer education, a relatively recent concept. He said, "Eat, drink, dress and believe what you have done wrong: servand imagination." Maaouiya ibn Abi May Allah be pleased with him as saying: " Each exchange is a lost right."

Our wishes have traditionally used to take the opportunity to fast to evaluate the spirit with spiritual benefits and to reevaluate the body with bodily benefits, should we get used to taking the opportunity to evaluate the nation's economy, which is its body and soul from an incurable disease that is a disease Permanent consumption without adequate production?! Is Ramadan an opportunity and an opportunity to have the will to address the huge consumer situation that we are experiencing in this holy month? !.
