Al Khumayni attacked Mu`awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) saying: "The government of Mu`awiyah was not Islamic or even nearly Islamic."[1].

He attacked Samurah ibn Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) saying: "There are some narrators who attributed lies against the Prophet (peace be upon him) and ascribed to him Hadiths that were not uttered by him, and perhaps a narrator like Samurah ibn Jundub had fabricated some narrations that underestimated the dignity of the Emir of the Believers [i.e., Ali]."[2]

Al Khumayni mentioned in his book "The Islamic government" page 36: "It has been authentically proven by Shari`ah and by reason that what has been necessary during the lifetime of Muhammad and in the era of Imam Ali regarding the establishment of a government is still necessary today."

He also said in the same book, page 74: "The Messenger of Allah and the Emir of the Believers [i.e., Ali] used to say and act accordingly."

He said in the mentioned book, page 131: "The leadership of Ali after the Prophet (peace be upon him) had extended for 30 years: 24 years and six months of which he was prevented to rule, using Taqiyyah [showing outwardly opposite to inwardly]. 5 years and six months of which he was fighting hypocrites, oppressors, and apostates, and was persecuted by the trials of straying people. Likewise, the Prophet (peace be upon him) remained 13 years from the beginning of his prophethood prevented from participating in the rule, afraid, detained, fugitive, and outcast, and could neither fight disbelievers nor defending the believers. Then he migrated and spent ten years fighting polytheists and was afflicted by hypocrites until Allah caused him to die and admitted him to the Gardens of Delight."

He also said in that book, page 131: "In Ghadir Khum during the Farewell Hajj, the Prophet (peace be upon him) appointed Ali as a ruler after him, then disagreement began to sneak into the hearts of the people."

Al Khumayni slandered Abu Bakr, `Umar as well as grand Companions by saying in his book, page 69: "When the Prophet (peace be upon him) commanded the Companions to join the detachment of Usamah, no one had the right to lag behind or discuss the command with him because that was considered an act of disobedience to the Prophet (peace be upon him)."

Al Khumayni in the previous statement expressed the view of the Shiites who said that the Prophet (peace be upon him) wanted to expel hypocrites away from Medina by sending them with Usamah so as the people could give homage to Ali (may Allah be pleased with him); may Allah kill the Shiites.

Al Khumayni said about Mu`awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) in page 71: "This happened during the rule of Mu`awiyah who used to kill people for doubt and for mere accusation, as he used to detain people, expel them out of the country, and take out many of their families without right."

He also said about Mu`awiyah: "The government of Mu`awiyah was not Islamic or even nearly Islamic."

He also said about him in the book of "Restraining self-desires" or in "The great Jihad," page 88: "Mu`awiyah had ruled his people for forty years, but he did not get anything but the curse of the world and the torment of the Hereafter."

He said in his book "The Islamic government," page 33: "In the beginning of Islam, the Umayyad and those who followed their footsteps endeavored to prevent the stability of Imam Ali's government. By their ugly efforts, the regime collapsed and deviated from the true course of Islam because their programs disagreed completely with Islam and its teachings. Then the Abbasids came and followed the same track, and the caliphate was changed to inherited sultanate, and that continued until today."

Al Khumayni said about Harun Ar-Rashid and others in his book "the Islamic government," page 122: "What kind of culture he or the people before and after him gained."

In conclusion: Shiites attributed lies against Allah, His Messenger, and His Companions as well as Ali and his children to whom they have attributed infallibility, and filled history with slandering their opponents. We have reported the views of the scholars of Jarh (criticism of Hadith narrators) and Ta`dil (validating the uprightness of Hadith narrators), so it is invalid to believe in their truthfulness either in words or actions.
