The Islamic Awakening came, as ordained by Almighty Allah, just when it was needed most, and people rejoiced at its emergence and started cherishing rosy dreams.

It is worth stressing here the deplorable fact that this propitious awakening is beset with numerous problems which hamper its progress, in that some of its adherents oppose others or even show enmity toward them and conspire against them, giving rise to disorder, inciting further hostility and spreading disunity. This sorry state of affairs has disillusioned some people into believing that differences between Muslims in general and those engaged in da’wah work in particular is an outrageous fact and a chronic, incurable disease from which only a few are saved.

Furthermore, the sincere efforts made by some lack relevance and soundness, in that they are made to achieve unnecessary ends, to go after the less important, yet forbidden despite the availability of the most important, or to go after ends with detrimental effects.

In addition, most of those engaged in the da’wah field are, in the main, known for their simplicity and ingeniousness that can easily develop into inadvertence. This affords some people the opportunity to deceive and implicate them, causing them to commit follies and take deadly risks which only harm them as well as others and the country, make people hate them or even make them hate and fear Islam itself.  Perhaps the field where the ignorance of such people manifests itself most is the political arena. They may have made a great deal of efforts and sacrifices in this domain, but they are always the first victims, paying dearly for their ignorance and causing a great deal of suffering to other people and society at large, which is apparently far more atrocious and horrid.

There is no doubt that a phenomenon like this cannot be attributed to one single reason, but rather to a number of complex and inextricably intertwined factors, some of which are direct while some others are indirect. Some of these reasons include naivety and ingeniousness, hastiness and improvisation, gullibility and tendency to be easily entangled in problems. Some of them concern lack of understanding the divine, universal laws, and some others have to do with covetousness and whims and desires whose seekers actually seek leadership and worldly pursuits while adopting a religious guise. Some of them relate to people's intellectual capacity and understanding ability, while some others relate to the nature of the phase through which the Ummah is going, which is a very serious and critical phase indeed, as it has numerous repercussions and negative effects on a number of fields, including that of da'wah.

Given the complex diagnosis of this critical phenomenon, we ought to establish that giving one single solution to ascertain the effectiveness of the remedy is not sufficient; rather, we need to provide a number of solutions which support one another.
