The problem of forgetting meanings:

Paying attention to the meaning of the sermon and its structure is required, so it is a shame, for example, that a preacher would change the diacritics of a subject or an object because that changes the meaning and distracts the audience. However, being new in preaching makes it difficult to combine between the meaning and the structure, particularly when the people stare at the preacher. When a preacher begins his long statement with a letter, for example, he will forget, and forgetfulness increases at the beginning of his experience.

Therefore, he has to busy himself with the meaning, focus on it, and care for it, and a listener should overlook minor slips due to the nature of the situation. Moreover, a listener should remember the saying of `Umar to a man: "Have not you been busy with the meaning rather than the structure." When getting used to preaching, the talent of remembering becomes strong, worry and disorder decrease, and the meaning and structure become easy.

Sometimes, a preacher forgets the meaning about which he was speaking, so there is no harm to move to another meaning or evidence.

Forgetting meanings increases in the beginning of the experience for the mentioned reasons, so a beginner should prepare a long subject, perfect it, and memorize Surat Qaf, and he should remind the audience with piety and invoking Allah for the believers, and when he forgets part of the subject, he remembers other parts.

A preacher should mention Allah frequently, invoke Allah, say "La Hawla Wala Quwwata Illah billah [No might nor strength save in Allah]," and be keen to obey Allah and act according to what he knows because that may facilitate things for him by the will of Allah.

A preacher should learn the biography of the Pious Predecessors in how to begin and end a topic. It was said about `A'ishah, the Mother of the Believers, (may Allah be pleased with her) that when she wanted to open a topic for discussion or close one, she did easily.
