Sayyar said: I was walking with Thabit Al Bunany that he happened to pass by children and he greeted them. And Thabit reported that he walked with Anas and he happened to pass by children and he greeted them. Anas reported that he walked with the Prophet of Allah (may peace be upon. him) and he happened to pass by children and he greeted them. [1]

Lessons gained from the Hadith:

1- The eagerness of Sahabah (the Companions of the Prophet) to follow the Prophet (peace be upon him) and resulted in the following of the Followers to the Companions of the Prophet.

2- It shows from the Prophet's salutation to children that he considered them and made for them a status in life.

3- The Prophet's modesty by saluting those children, and he did not say: These are young children and have no mention, or he did not pass without paying attention to them, but gave them from his time.

4- Training children for Islamic manners.

5- The elites and grand people should put down haughtiness and lower their wings to people.[2]

[1] Al Bukhari 6247 and Muslim 2168.

[2] From 4 - 5 benefited from Fathul-Bary 11/33.
