The West - as well as those who admire their civilization from our people — boast of having precedence in environmental issues. However, those who ponder over the book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) find that Islam with its legislations was the first to lie down the basis of paying attention to these environmental issues which environmental organizations and intergovernmental organizations are paying attention day and night. They held conferences, one after the other, such as: (the Conference of Tbilisi, Rio de Janeiro, the Kyoto Conference, Johannesburg Summit), but

to no avail! May Allah have mercy on the poet who said:
A blind leads a sighted! Perish you

Have gone astray whom was lead by blinds

If we take, for example but not limited the term (environmental justice), this term which the majority of (Ecologists) considers as a modern term that showed up during the two world wars, but who want to scrutinize finds that its roots entrenched and fixed in our Shari`ah. Allah (Glory be to Him) says: “Anyone killed a person not in retaliation of murder, or to spread mischief in the land, it would be as if he killed all mankind, and if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of all mankind.” [Surat Al Ma’idah: 32]. Look at a country which now claims to be one of the largest democracies in the world (the United States), and to those who are trying to publish falsely! It occupies the first rank in the world in terms of murder! Did not (Katrina) hurricane reveal the black racism of the United States?! Where the back were collected in the stadium, while the white population were taken to undamaged places! It is true, there is a great difference between dust and chandelier! Great difference between the religion of Allah and the religion of tyrants! A poet said:
Do you not see that sword is missing of its qualities
When it says that a sword is stronger than a stick

“Is he who was dead (without Faith by ignorance and disbelief) and We gave him life (by knowledge and Faith) and set for him a light (of Belief) whereby he can walk amongst men ? like him who is in the darkness (of disbelief, polytheism and hypocrisy) from which he can never come out? Thus it is made fair-seeming to the disbelievers that which they used to do.” [Surat Al An`am: 122].

What will happen if the West and the organized international terrorism purview these Prophetic Hadiths? How will they react? Is Islam a religion of terror or a religion of peace, protecting souls, and the propagation of enlightenment and guidance among all human beings on earth? Or are they blind?!

Rabah ibn Rabi`ah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that he set out with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) in some of the Battles. Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) and his Companions passed by a woman was found killed, so Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) stood before her and said: “this cannot be a fighter.” Then he looked in the faces of his Companions and said to one of them: “Go and tell Khalid ibn Al Walid that he should not kill a child, hired person, or a woman.” [Reported by Muslim in the book of Jihad (8), chapter on prohibition of killing women and children during wars (3\1364), p. (1744)].

The Prophet (peace be upon him) instructed his army before going to the Battle of Mu’tah saying: “Do not kill a woman, a weak child, an old person, and do not burn a palm, do not root out a tree, and do not demolish a house.” [Reported by Muslim (1731) in the same position].

Ibn `Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that when the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) sent an army, he used to say: “do not kill those who worship in hermitages.” [Reported by Ibn Abu Shaybah in his Book Al Musannif (6\484), chapter on those prohibited to be killed during battlefields, book of Jihad, Ar-Rushd Library, Riyadh, First print, 1409, verified by Yusuf Kamal Al Hut].

On the same track, Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) walked when he said in his will to the emir of the first military mission Usamah ibn Zayd: "Do not betray, do not transgress limits, do not deceive, do not mutilate, do not kill a young child, or an old person, or a woman, and do not cut a palm tree, or burn it. Do not cut a fruitful tree, do not slaughter an ewe, a cow, or a camel but for eating it, and you shall pass by a group of people who secluded themselves into silos, let them alone and do not harm them. [Tarikh At-Tabary].

This commandment is considered a constitution for the ethics of jihad in Islam. It included codes for protecting the environment even in critical times. Does Israel maintain these rules and principles when seizing the Muslim land, and violating their honor?! Did not it kill infants and elderly people who were performing Salah?!

The Messenger (peace be upon him) exhorted Muslims to protect the environment and its elements during war, and a fortiori in peace, where Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) is full of repeated calls for protecting the environment.

For reference; the Glorious Qur'an is not a book of medicine, pharmaceutics, engineering, or science, but Islam came to set the rules for religion as well as the world together; “And there is nothing hidden in the heaven and the earth but it is in a Clear Book (i.e. Al-Lauh Al-Mahfûz).” [Surat An-Naml: 75]. It came to build a perfect society on earth, where this community to be integrated in all respects: Environmental, ethical, political, economic, social, military, and also in terms of health.

As for the succession and urbanization of earth, they formed a noble aim on earth after the acts of worship. Allah (Glory be to Him) says: “He brought you forth from the earth and settled you therein” [Surat Hud: 61]. and not as some people imagine that we have to abandon civilization, scientific, technological, and industrial development to live in deserts and wild nature, no! We have to be careful in dealing with links of nature with morals and tenderness — as mentioned above. We should not cut it, manipulate with it, or destroy in a way that we cannot  revive it again (sustainable development), or neglect its provisions. Everything came in balance and with estimation. Allah (Glory be to Him) says: “Everything with Him is in (due) proportion.” [Surat Ar-Ra`d: 8]. He also says: “Verily, We have created all things with Qadar (Divine Preordainments of all things before their creation as written in the Book of Decrees —Al-Lauh Al-Mahfûz).”  [Surat Al Qamar: 49].
