Freemasonry in Palestine

The Masonic activity has begun its activity in Palestine since 1873. When the forum of eastern Canada opened a branch in Jerusalem under the name of Sulayman lodge and its formal language was English, and operated by the Zionist fingers. Then successively Masonic lodges have continued to open until the twenties of this century where Masonic lodges network has spread in all cities of Palestine.

In the thirties, in Palestine there were more than nineteen lodges subordinate to the largest Egyptian Lodge, twelve of them the Jews formed most of its members to the extent that they formed 85%. The number of Masonic lodges increased after the 1948 war and the establishment of the Israeli State to plan for completing the Major Masonic Plan.

The Grand United Lodge was established in 1953 to encompass all public lodges which reached 64 in 1970. These lodges include 3500 active members from Jews, Muslims, Christians, and Druze.

The Grand National Egyptian Masonic Lodge addressed the Palestinians during their revolution in 1936 saying: "O people of Palestine, remember that the Jews are your brothers and cousins. They came from the West and succeeded, and today they aspire to benefit you by their monies, experience and knowledge. Arabs and Hebrews are two branches of the tree of Abraham, their forefathers are Isaac and Ishmael, and when they put their hands in one another, they will benefit a lot from the different methods they have and their cooperation will be for good and the blessing by the will of God."

The Masonic organizations played a critical role in the 1948 war when they instructed all their members in the Arab countries to support the establishment of the State of Israel.
