Aligarh Muslim University signs MOU with C-DAC

The Department of Linguistics, Aligarh Muslim University and the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), signed an Memorandum of Understanding to facilitate training and research in advanced areas of Information and Communication Technology including Speech and Natural Language Processing. C-DAC is an autonomous scientific society working under the Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India.

By signing the MoU, both the parties agreed to allow and encourage collaborative research among them. The C-DAC grants fellowship to M.Phil., Post MAIMS, Ph.D. and Post-doctoral students. The M.Phil. students of AMU will be eligible for Rs. 20,000 per month (for One year), Ph.D. students for Rs. 25,000 per month for five years and Post-Doctoral student for Rs. 30,000 per month for two years. The PhD students registered in AMU will have to carry their research at C-DAC.

The MoU will enable the research scholars registered for Ph.D. program in AMU to undergo extensive training in state of art technologies in advanced areas of Natural Language Processing, Information and Communication Technologies and various other strategies in industrial sectors. The scholars will be selected by a Joint Selection Committee. The C-DAC will provide office space, computing facilities and other logistical facilities like canteen, access to library etc. in C-DAC and will guide the scholars for their project work in association with the guide from AMU. The C-DAC will also bear TA/DA expenses of the scholars going on tour to any outstation locations as part of the project work on similar terms and conditions as other JRF staff in C-DAC.
