Jerry Bergman and Abdalrahman Abulmajd discuss Darwinism as an enormous negative effect on humanity

 

We have a fresh opportunity to reflect on Darwinism as an enormous negative effect on humanity. At this point Jerry Bergman isn’t going to speak only about Darwinism, but he also speaks about neo-Darwinism and natural selection.

Jerry Bergman (Ph.D.) has taught biology, genetics, chemistry, biochemistry, anthropology, geology and microbiology at the college/university level for over forty years. Dr. Bergman has taught at the University of Toledo Medical School, Bowling Green State University and Owens College in Ohio. Dr. Bergman has over 1,000 science publications to his credit, in twelve languages, has published over forty books and monographs and has been a consultant for over twenty science textbooks. He has spoken frequently about his research on American radio and television programs and at conferences around the world. His first book titled, Hitler and the Nazi Darwinian Worldview: How the Nazi Eugenic Crusade for a Superior Race Caused the Greatest Holocaust in World History (2012).

 

Q: First of all, I know you are a specialist and taught in biology,

genetics, chemistry, biochemistry, anthropology, geology, and

microbiology. I wonder what made you focus on Darwinism?

J B: I did so because I began to realize that Darwinism had a profound negative influence, not only on theism, but morality and even the lives of many millions of innocent people. As I researched this issue, and wrote 4 books and several articles on it, it became apparent that the worldview which Darwin the man was enormously successful in propagating, has had an enormous negative effect on humanity. One example is communism. Others include social Darwinism which birthed eugenics, holocausts, ethnic cleansing and Nazism, and these few examples are only the tip of the iceberg. The horrific results of Darwinism on the world has touched almost every human alive in the last century. This is one reason why the two major wars in the last century are called world wars. Some of  my books in this area include:

Q: How do you define Darwinism and neo-Darwinism?

J B: Darwinism is the ideology based on Darwin’s writing that included an unknown source of genetic variety from which natural selection selections. Neo- Darwinism is a modification of Darwinism that included genetic mutations as the major source of that variety. In other words, all life including humans, according to Neo-Darwin, is the result of billions of mistakes! The problem is, we now know that 99.9 % of these mistakes are The the near neutral mutations are not directly harmful, but accumulate, eventually producing genetic meltdown and death to the organism and eventually the species. The other type is harmful or deleterious, causing outright death to the organism or one of the 5000 mutation-caused diseases known today, or death to the organism. Each child has about 100 more mutations than his or her parents, and this number adds up each generation.

 

Q: Lewis said that “If by saying that man rose from brutality you mean

simply that man is physically descended from animals, I have no

objection.”

J B: This is one statement of several that caused many to believe that Lewis was a theistic evolutionist, but as I explain in my book on Lewis this statement must be taken in the context of the chapter, as well as Lewis’ life of writing. Lewis was not a scientist and realized he could not respond very effectively in this area, so responded in an area that he knew very well, namely logic, reason, and telling stories. Many that he wrote deal with Darwinism in some way, and very effectively, I might add.

 

Q: Could you elaborate or sharply distinguish between Evolution as a

biological theorem and popular Evolutionism or Developmentalism which is certainly a Myth?

J B: This was CS Lewis' way of attempting to separate the Darwinian worldview, actually a philosophy that postulated molecules can, by natural selection, turn into people purely as the result of natural forces such as gravity, and the laws of chemistry. Developmentalism was once a common term for macroevolution. Microevolution has been scientifically verified from the fact that all life contains much variety. As a result of this variety, we have been able to produce 300 breeds of dogs from their wolf ancestor.

 

Q: Although some believe C.S. Lewis believed in evolution, I was

delighted to learn that C.S. Lewis rejected Darwinism in all its

forms, could you elaborate on that, please?

J B: Yes. He not only rejected Darwinism, but aggressively opposed Darwinism and was very effective in this area. He did not refute Darwinism by evaluation of the fossil record or other scientific means, but by logic and reason, showing that it was not only wrong, but grossly illogical.

 

Q: By  logic and reason, showing that it was not only wrong, but grossly illogical. could you elaborate on how logic and reason showed Darwinism was wrong, please?

J B: Simply by the fact that cell biology and embryology research has documented in detail the fact that, once an embryo begins to develop along a designed pathway, it is very difficult to change that path by mutations without causing a major genetic catastrophe and death or disease. This fact poses major problems for Darwinism. Just as mutation in an individual regulatory gene early in the development of an animal will inevitably stop normal healthy development, mutations or alterations in the network of interacting signaling molecules will destroy a developing embryo.
