When the wife of 'Imran delivered Maryam she said,

“Indeed  I  seek  refuge   with  You  for  her  and  her offspring from  Shaytan,  the  outcast.” [Surah AI-‘Imran (3): 36]

On  the authority of  Ibn  'Abbass (radhyAlldhu  ‘anhuma) The Prophet  (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) used  to  seek  refuge   for  Hasan and Husayn saying, Your  father  used  to seek  refuge  for  Isma’il  and  Ishaq  saying,

A'udhu bi kalima til-Allahi-tamati min kulli Shaytanin wa hamate[1] wa min kulli aynin lamati.[2]

"I seek refuge   in  the  perfect  words  of  Allah  from every  Shaytan  and  every  venomous  reptile,   and  every evil  eye"[3]

[1] [1] One of the reptiles there are poisonous ones and everything that contains poison, and those poisons that don't kill their venom is called toxins. The meaning   is that every creature   has some bad in it, according to al-Hafiz.

[2] Al-Khatabi said, it means every disease and epidemic that can affect man with regards to being possessed and mental insanity.

[3] Reported by Saheeh Bukhari.
