The first lesson, O teacher

No doubt that the first lesson in the academic year has a great importance to both students and teachers. In the first lesson, each party should recognize the other: His duties and rights. It is the first pillar to direct matters in the proper way, so good investment to this lesson has a great impact on the general process of education throughout the entire academic year.

However, unfortunately some teachers cannot manage to benefit from this lesson and waste it in asking for academic materials and traditional acquaintance. So, I suggest some arrangements to make the lesson useful and everybody shall be profitable:

1- Welcoming students by smiles and wishing them a successful academic year that is full of fun and benefit (Do not speak to students unless they are listening carefully).

2- Acquaintance: Each student should introduce himself by standing at the blackboard and stating a wise saying in which he believes, where does he spend his vacation, and whether he has read a book recently or not? These answers will help teachers know whether the students have spent their summer vacation properly or not.

* The second type is to place a group of expressive pictures and after a student introduces himself, he should pick up a picture and explain the reason he picked that picture for.

3- Reading the oath of honor between a teacher and his students in which they undertake to respect the teacher, and anyone violates this oath should be punished.

4- Speaking about the subject, its importance, its content, and the reason behind studying it. Encouraging students to seek knowledge because it is the noblest way to gain honor and elevation.

Oath pact:

* Respecting time, so no one is allowed to enter the class late.

* Enter the class before the teacher is not allowed.

* Wearing decent clothes, so torn apart and short clothes are not allowed, make up and weird shaving are not allowed either.

* Speaking and making chaos during the lesson are not allowed.

* Active participation is desirable but interruption is not allowed.

* Doing homework.

* Mutual respect between students and teachers.

* Tolerance and cooperation for seeking knowledge.

* Preserving the equipments of the class and not to write on walls.

* Preserving my equipments and the equipments of my colleagues.

* Avoiding cheating in homework and tests.

* "Verily, Allâh will not change the (good) condition of a people as long as they do not change their state (of goodness) themselves (by committing sins and by being ungrateful and disobedient to Allâh)." [Surat Ar-Ra`d: 11].

Allah only is the object of our satisfaction.
