My son and his academic level

There are many causes that can explain the condition of your child which I shall mention in the following points:

1- A child may be shy and he does not like to be under pressure to learn. This is natural but it can be changed by calmness, understanding, and support.

2- The issue of comparison between him and his sister may be painful and may cause worry that leads to lack of interaction. You may say: I do not compare between him and his sister, but in fact comparison may appear through the body language and signals as shown in your message. A child has a huge ability to receive and understand these signals.

3- A child may suffer weak intellectual capabilities or may have certain academic difficulties which can be ascertained by making IQ and learning difficulties tests but after reducing pressure in learning and comparison and after the elapse of preliminary level or in primary one, and I advise you not to do it but after visiting a psychiatrist.

4- There is a well-known disease that is called disorder, attention deficit, hyperactivity where concentration is reduced and accompanied by hyperactivity. We can exclude this diagnosis when visiting a psychiatrist even if I exclude it.

Finally, I do not like to put children under pressure to learn quickly and boast of their progress. The correct action is providing a good environment for learning and communicating with them every moment to deliver useful information in a joyful indirect way without making them feel they are obliged to learn.

Keep to rewarding him when he achieves any success, with patience and understanding his nature and helping him calmly without nervousness, he shall overcome his problem In Sha' Allah.
