Question

As-salamu `Alaykum warahmatullah wabarakatuh (May Allah's Peace, Mercy, and Blessings be upon you!).

Dear brothers in (Alukah Network), thank you for your efforts and giving us the chance to counsel trusted people like you.

I am a twenty-years-old girl who invokes Allah to be always in His Obedience.

In fact, my mind is occupied with matters that do not concern girls in my age. I do not feel that I need anything but the basic needs: food, clothes, family, friends; even my need to money is little.

My family gives me a sum of money which remains with me for years to the extent that it might be lost.

I am not upset because of this condition, but I feel that I am full-convinced of what I do, therefore I am not paying attention to the worldly desires, however sometimes I ask myself: Am I weird? Am I fool?

In fact, I do not expect that I suffer any illness, but I started to feel that people are walking in a different direction than mine and without target.

I had a little accident about a month ago which I cannot remember its details and do not know whether I performed Salah or ate something during that accident or not until I asked my family and they told me what I was doing.

Thanks to Allah for everything but I do not know the reason of that accident and I do not care because I feel that my body moves by the will of Allah and I have no control over anything in my body because Allah alone is the one who leads me.

I ask Him (Glory be to Him) to protect you by His Care. My question is -excuse me for elaborateness- I feel responsible for conveying an important message to young people in my age.

I started to execute a small project for them but I still need the experience, the wisdom, and the knowledge of experts.

I just want to convince them that an individual in this age is able to put his special fingerprint in life and how they can use their energies correctly without distraction and you may seem interested in helping me.

I apologize again for elaboration. May Allah bless you and facilitate all good for you!

Answer

My dear sister, As-salamu `Alaykum warahmatullah wabarakatuh (May Allah's Peace, Mercy, and Blessings be upon you!).

It is our pleasure to welcome you in (Alukah Network), and we ask Allah (may He be Exalted) to guide us to offer all useful matters to His Servants, for He is All-Hearing, All-Responding.

My dear sister, I am used -in my answers to counsels- to extracting the positive points in the character of the questioner in order to move forward to correct and change the negative points.

However, today I am in front of a positive example in all senses of the word, as I can feel from your message: self-appraisal, precise critic for behavior, high psychological contentment, desire for rehabilitation that exceeds oneself to all individuals of society, then practical translation for this desire to find its way out instead of restraining it.

May Allah bless you dear sister and I hope that you be a good example to follow by everyone and not only to your generation.

My dear sister, contentment is one of the high qualities which raise the human soul to the highest ranks, but what I could understand from your message is that there is some exaggeration that might lead to asceticism, so your question about whether you are weird or not is not in its proper place because asceticism in the worldly matters may be considered as high self-traits according to many religions.

However, what characterizes our religion is balance and moderation in the worldly and religious matters in order to cope with the human nature which Allah (Glory be to Him) knows its secrets, for He is All-Knowing.

Moreover, your desire to invite your generation to be positive should be outlined by exhortation and yearning which will take them from the modern things which arouse their lusts.

Therefore, I see that you should be the model for them to show them that the positivity of Islam does not prevent a person from enjoying worldly benefits but achieving that through moderation is a type of thanking Allah and admitting His Favor.

As for your question about whether you are fool or not, I think it is unfair to describe yourself this way.

How could you describe yourself with foolishness while you are caring for young people and wanting to teach them about their wasted energies, and take practical steps to achieve that while you are still twenty?! You have touched upon a very social problem that has been ignored by older people which is the problem of investing the energies of youth and directing them.

I describe it as a problem because what was resulted from wasting these energies and ignoring their needs led to increasing different psychological problems.

Statistics of one of a specialized Arabic site indicated that more than 70% from the questioners are young people. May Allah grant you and us success!

Finally, dear sister, I invoke Allah to make you useful to your community and guide your steps. Let it be known that we are eager to hear from you again.
