The virtue of Adhan

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: "If the people knew the reward for pronouncing the Adhan and for standing in the first row (in congregational Salah) and found no other way to get that except by drawing lots they would draw lots, and if they knew the reward of the Zhuhr Salah (in the early moments of its fixed time) they would race for it (go early) and if they knew the reward of `Isha'  and Fajr (morning) Salah in congregation, they would come to offer them even if they had to crawl.

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: "When the Adhan is pronounced Satan takes to his heels and passes wind with noise during his flight in order not to hear the Adhan."

Mu`awiyah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saying: "The Muezzins (callers to Salah) will have the longest necks on the Day of Resurrection."

"Whoever hears the Adhan, whether a human being, a jinn or any other creature, will be a witness for him on the Day of Resurrection."

Scholars differed about which is better Adhan or Imamah (leading people in Salah):

The most correct is that Adhan is better.

Leading people in Salah is better.

They are equal.

If a muezzin knows the rights of Imamah and its qualities, it will be better, otherwise Adhan is better.
