The venerable Companions in lines of light

Episode (14) Anas ibn Malik

Anas was born in Medina and was raised on its soil. Medina was the home of the Prophet (peace be upon him) who was the Messenger of guidance and love, and who carried the torch of light and guidance to the Ansar [the Supporters] and others. When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) migrated to Medina, his mother offered Anas to the Messenger of Allah to serve him, thereupon the Prophet (peace be upon him) rejoiced and welcomed him. How lucky Anas ibn Malik was because he would be close to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him).

• Anas served the Prophet (peace be upon him) for ten years and extracted from his good traits and attributes. Anas Ibn Malik said: "By Allah, I served him for ten years and during that period, he did not comment on my actions by: Why did you do such and such? And he did not comment on my action by: Why did you leave this?"

• He was one of the most knowledgeable Companions and their trustworthy reference.

He was known for quietness and sobriety, so he used to listen to the questioners in deep interest and concern until they finish.

• The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) invoked Allah for him with long life, abundance of money and children, and to enter Paradise.

• He lived for 103 years and saw 100 children of his own offspring.

• He had an orchard that gave fruits twice a year.

• He narrated about 2000 Hadiths from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him).

• He was the last Companion to die in Basra.

• He died in Medina in 93 AH.

May Allah be pleased with him and reward him the best for his Islam.
