The heavens moving from side to side and become cleft

As for these heavens that Allah Almighty has raised without any pillars and made into a great sign that people can ponder over, they move mora –i.e.: they will tremble a great tremble. Allah Almighty said:

{يَوْمَ تَمُورُ السَّمَاء مَوْراً}

“On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion” [Al Tur: 9]

Then they will cleft asunder and open:

{إِذَا السَّمَاء انفَطَرَتْ}

“When the sky breaks apart” [Al Infitar: 1]

And He said:

{إِذَا السَّمَاء انشَقَّتْ}

“When the sky has split [open]” [Al Inshiqaq: 1]

After they split, they become like open doors:

{وَفُتِحَتِ السَّمَاء فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَاباً }

“And the heaven is opened and will become gateways” [Al Naba: 19]

When they split, they also become weak:

{وَانشَقَّتِ السَّمَاء فَهِيَ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاهِيَةٌ }

“And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm.” [Al Haaqah: 16]

The Day of Resurrection after it splits will be like a rose from its extreme weariness and weakness

{فَإِذَا انشَقَّتِ السَّمَاء فَكَانَتْ وَرْدَةً كَالدِّهَانِ }

“And when the heaven is split open and becomes rose-colored like oil” [Al Rahman: 37]

It will give out colours like used paint that is coloured. Al Hassan Al Basri said:

{وَرْدَةً كَالدِّهَانِ}

“rose-colored like oil”

Meaning: they become (different) colours^[1]. After that, they get uprooted from their place. Kusht means: removal and uprooting from their place. Allah Almighty says:

{وَإِذَا السَّمَاء كُشِطَتْ}
