- Intending to visit the Prophet's grave upon traveling:

However, the correct view is that the intention of traveling should be visiting the Masjid itself. If you come to the masjid to offer Salah, it is permissible to visit the grave of the Prophet (peace be upon him), so, it is not permissible for you upon entering the Masjid to visit the Prophet's grave as if you did not come but for that reason.

- Some visitors stand at the Prophet's grave in reverence placing his right hand on the left as if he is standing in Salah.

- Facing the grave upon invocation and seeking help with the Prophet (peace be upon him).

- Passing the hand over walls, bars, and kissing the grave.

- Visiting the grave after each Salah because of the Prophet's prohibition: "Do not make my grave a place of festivity but invoke blessings on me wherever you are, for your blessings reach me wherever you may be."

- Leaving Al Masjid Al Nabawy (the Prophet's Mosque in Medina) backward while facing the Masjid.

- Some people go to some monuments such as the caves of the mountain of Uhud, the cave of Hira', the cave of Thawr in Makkah, and tying some pieces of clothes there.

- Visiting some places which some people claim that they contain the Prophet's traces there such as the place of his camel's rest, the well of the ring and the well of `Uthman, and taking dust from these places for blessings; all these actions are not permissible.

- Invoking the dead upon visiting the Baqi` (graveyard in Medina) and the cemeteries of Uhud, and throwing money there to draw nearer to the dead and taking the blessing from their people.
