There are many virtues for the ones who perform Hajj or Umrah correctly. Some of them have been listed below:

1. It is one of the best deeds (afdalul amaal أفضل الأعمال )

Abu Hurairah reported:

“The Messenger of Allah was asked about the best of deeds. He (Peace be upon him) said: ‘Belief in Allah.’ He (the inquirer) said: What next? He (the Prophet) replied: ‘Jihad (struggle to the utmost) in the cause of Allah.’ He (the inquirer) again said: What next? He (the Prophet) replied: ‘Hajj Mabrour (an accepted pilgrimage).’ [Reported by Bukhari- Chapter of Hajj]

2. The best supplication (khairud dua خيرالدعاء ) is on Arafah:

The Messenger (Peace be upon him) said:

“The best supplication is the supplication on the day of Arafah (i.e. on Arafah).”  [Reported by Tirmidhi – Chapter of Supplication]

3. It is an expiation (kaffarah كفارة ) for sin

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleasded with him) reported Allah’s Messenger (Peace be upon him) as saying:

“An Umrah is expiation for the sins committed between it and the next, and hajj which is accepted will receive no other reward than Paradise.” [Reported by Muslim]

4. You will return like the day you were born (sinless)

Narrated by Abu Hurairah:

Allah's Apostle said, "Whoever performs hajj to this House (Ka’bah) and does not approach his wife for sexual relations nor commits sins (while performing hajj), he will come out as sinless as a newly-born child." [Reported by Bukhari]

5. The Hajj for the woman is Struggle (Jihad  جهاد )

Narrated by 'Aiesha (the mother of the faithful believers, who said:

I asked the Messenger (Peace be upon him) "Messenger of Allah is there jihad for women" The Prophet said, "Yes there is jihad upon them, there is no fighting involved in it, Hajj and Umrah.” [Reported by Ibn Majah #3013]

6. Its reward is Paradise (Jannahجنّة )

The Messenger (Peace be upon him) said:

“The accepted hajj has no other reward, except Paradise.” [Reported by Bukhari #1773]
