Episode (18) Sa`id ibn Zayd

Allah loved Sa`id and destined for him to grow up with a father who embraced the religion of Abraham, unified Allah, and disapproved Quraysh who were worshipping idols and slaughtering for other than Allah. Thus, Sa`id grow up with a heart ready for faith, and as soon as he heard about the call of Muhammad (peace be upon him), he hastened to it declaring his Islam while his age did not exceed twenty.

He was the brave boy, Sa`id ibn Zayd, who was born in Makkah in 22 AH.

He was known by his clear heart, soft temper, generousity, and modesty.

Sa`id was so modest and shy and his soul was full of values and principles which the warm sun of Islam kneated its lines.

He witnessed all battles with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) except the Battle of Badr when the Prophet (peace be upon him) sent him on a mission along with Talhah ibn `Ubaydullah.

The Messanger (peace be upon him) gave him glad tiding with Paradise, and he gained the honor of participation and tasted the victory over the Persians and the Romans by taking part in Al Yarmouk Battle and the opening of Damascus to Islam.

Of his wonderful attitudes that Abu `Ubaydah ibn Al Jarrah appointed him as a ruler to Damascus but Sa`id preferred to take part in battles to taking positions, so he apologized to Abu `Ubaydah and Abu `Ubaydah accepted his apology.

Thus, Sa`id ibn Zayd spent his life fighting in the cause of Allah and a caller to Islam until Allah caused him to die in Al `Aqiq in the year 50 AH, may Allah be pleased with Sa`id and reward him the best for serving Islam and Muslims.
