The Mongol invasion to the Muslim World was one of the harshest attacks against Islam. It was a decisive moment in the history of the Muslim World. That period began in the first part of the seventh century after Hijrah (migration) as it witnessed the regression of Islam. In the East, there were the Mongol massacres and invasions, whereas in the West the state of Al Muwahidin (Almohad Dynasty) was falling apart after the battle of Al `Iqab. Bythe fall of that dynasty, the major Muslim cities in Andalus collapsed like Cordoba, Seville, and others. History seemed to write down the fall of the Muslim Empire.

However, only few years passed and the Great State of Mongols that was built by Genghis Khan began to fall apart into four great kingdoms; few years later, the four kingdoms embraced Islam. The victors embraced the religion of the overpowered, and the Islamic civilization gained victory over the military Mongol power.

Still, we do not know much about the details of Mongol kings' embrace to Islam, but history indicated that there is something hidden that had not been yet revealed.

Muslim women who were taken as slaves during the Mongol-Muslim wars, especially those who were enslaved by the kings of Tatars, changed history.

Princess Risalah, the daughter of `Ala'ud-Din Khuwarizm Shah, the sister of Sultan Jalalud-Din Mankbirty, who was the last of the Khuwarism dynasty, was enslaved by Joji, the son of Genghis Khan. It was astonishing that princess Risalah who was not important in the era of her father and brother refused to live in the margin of history during her enslavement. She had a tangible impact on the family of Joji, especially his sons, "Pato" and "Barakah", who, later on, assumed power over the Golden Mongol Tribe. That Tribe controlled the north of the Mongol Kingdom in Caucasus and Russia, and it was the first kingdom to embrace Islam.

The Mongol empire used to persecute Muslims who lived under its power, however, the situation was different in the Golden Tribe. Pato was known for his kind treatment for Muslims even before his conversion to Islam. After his death, Barakah Khan, who embraced Islam and gave homage to Al Mustansir, the last Caliph in the Abbasiyyid dynasty, assumed power before the fall of Baghdad. His Islam was a significant incident which helped him to get rid of every tribal partiality and tried his best to stop the marsh of Hulagu toward the Muslim Lands. Moreover, he fought Hulagu in several battles and formed allies with Mamluks, especially al-Malik al-Zahir Rukn al-Din Baibars al-Bunduqdar. He was the most important factor for the Golden Tribe to embrace Islam and to the stability of religion in Russia and Caucasus for many centuries.

After half a century of Mongols' invasion to Baghdad, Gazan Khan, the seventh Ilkhanate dynasty in Persia embraced Islam. He was not the first king to embrace Islam in the Kingdom of Persia, but his era was considered the beginning era of Islam in Persia. The most important in our context here was his successor. His successor was Oligato who was Christian, baptized, and was called Nuqula because his mother embraced Christianity which spread for sometimes among the kings of Mongol. Sooner, Nuqula embraced Islam while he was in early age by the effect of his wife. By his Islam, Islam has deep rooted in Persia.

There was another Muslim wife whose name was "Organa" who made her son "Mubarak Shah," who controlled the central Asia, embrace Islam. We shall not figure out the important role which that wife played but when we know that she was the wife of Qurrah Hulagu who was the grandson of Jeghtai son of Genghiz Khan who was the harshest enemy of Islam. He could not stand to hear the word "Muslim" in his presence except for humiliation.

Indeed, there are hidden soldiers of Allah which a person cannot see. Who could ever think that a slave girl who was taken forcibly in captivity during war would open the door (of Islam) which swords and soldiers could not open?

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) told the truth when he said: "Allah has inculcated in this religion hidden soldiers which He uses for the service of Islam until the Day of Recompense." [Reported by Ahmad and Ibn Majah, and Al Albany graded it as good].
