When citing Islamic medicine, we remember the most famous physicians such as Ibn Sina, Al-Razi, Ibn Al-Nafis, Al-Zahrawi, Ibn Zohr, and many others. They developed ancient medicines especially Greek and Roman; they added a lot of principles and substances to these medicines from ancient Indian and Chinese medicines; they made numerous important advances in this field, which still the leading medical bases till 19th century in Europe. However, with the development of sciences and technologies, most of their theories and practices could not be used nowadays.

When citing Islamic medicine, we must first begin by the source of its thought: “Quran and Sunna”, which contain the most important principles of therapy and prevention against illnesses such as microbial infections. There are also numerous curative plants and substances, like ginger, dates, manna, olives, milk, vinegar, honey, water and many others. But, what’s the position of “Prophetic Medicine” in ancient and modern times?

It is thanks to God and to the Prophet Mohamed (SAW) who encouraged thought and knowledge. Our Prophet has put many therapies and has required physician advice and consultation, and as a consequence medicine progresses in the past. When consulting most ancient medical manuscript, we find several Prophetic practices.

Today, Prophetic medicine still to be efficient and the miraculous answer to all health problems, it’s because Prophet’s words and practices are “revelations and inspirations” from God, that modern medicine will find “new” concepts and treatments. It’s the examples of prevention against AIDS contaminations, and all microbial problems.

Prophetic medicine is based on simple materials and substances within everyone’s means, to prevent and to treat illnesses, without adverse and side effects. Prophetic medicine is the only medicine valid, relevant and applicable over times, yesterday, today and tomorrow.
