Imperative Theory of History

Our approach to direct to the Islamic trend must be based on the concept of the social relation between the cause, the effect, and historical interpretation, i.e., on the basis of our view about the process by which nations and civilizations rise and fall. To find out the Islamic interpretation to that important kind of social change, it is useful to compare it with the modern historic philosophy, which is misleading, despite its domination. According to that philosophy, history is a movement with a single and specific course that gradually and imperatively leads to move from one phase to a more sophisticated one. People can affect that movement either by increase or decrease its speed, but they do not have the ability to stop or change its course. Those who try to stop or change its course to slow down its movement are the reactionaries and those who push it forward or hasten its course are the progressives. If a person aims to achieve the fruits of his efforts, he must explore the historical movement and see what is the future stage that will lead to it. He should also see to what extent his goals and ideals are in conformity with that stage, then he should direct all his efforts to the goal to which that historical movement inevitably leads to, otherwise he will be wasting his time in vain.

We know that the Communists admit this view, but they are not the only ones who admit this. However, there are many enemies of the communism assume the truth of this theory unintentionally. We find among those people, the Westerners and Westernized who believe that the current stage that West has reached —especially the United States— is considered more advanced in both material and cultural sides, moreover it is the stage that all nations that wish to achieve the industrial revolution and civil progress should reach. This trend, which is espoused by many of those who live in the Muslim world and hide behind communism or the western mask, considers that the position that directs people to the Islamic direction futile and contradicts the historical trend. For the communists, the historical trend leads to the Soviet Union and to the ideal communist State. However, for the agents of the West and those who act like them, the trend leads to the United States, and consequently to direction which the United States will reach.
