Harmalah ibn Zayd Al Ansary[1]

A companion who embraced Islam sincerely after informing the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) of his matter. The Prophet (peace be upon him) invoked Allah for him to be truthful and have a sound faith. He wanted to tell the Prophet (peace be upon him) about the hypocrites of his family, but the Prophet forbade him.

Abu Ad-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that a man was called Harmalah came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, faith is here and pointed to his tongue and hypocrisy is here and pointed to his heart, and I do not mention Allah but few. Thereupon, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "O Allah make his tongue mention you frequently and his heart grateful, grant him my love and the love of those who love me, and destines goodness for him."[2]

Ibn `Umayr narrated with a chain of transmission whose narrators are the narrators of authentic Hadiths and added that Harmalah said: O Messenger of Allah, I have hypocrite brothers whom I headed, shall I guide you to them? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever comes to us as you came and seeks forgiveness, we will seek forgiveness for him as we did with him. However, whoever insists on a sin, his matter is due to Allah, and we do not break the covering of anyone."[3]
