RM30, 000 Donation for Mosques, Surau

SUBANG JAYA: State assemblyman for Subang Jaya and the speaker of the Selangor state legislative assembly, Hannah Yeoh, recently gave out cheques totalling RM30, 000 to six mosques and 18 suraus in her constituency for Ramadan.

The mosques, Masjid Darul Ehsan Subang Jaya, Masjid Abu Bakar As-Siddiq, Masjid Al Mukminun JSJ 2, Masjid Al Falah USJ 9, Masjid An Nur USJ 4, and Masjid Al-Irsyad received RM2, 000 each while all the surau including Surau Al Ikhlas Subang Jaya, Surau Al-Hikmah and Surau Al-Mukmin received RM1, 000 each.

"This is an annual presentation that we do," said Yeoh, adding that only mosques and surau registered with the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) are entitled to the donations which are part of the RM600,000 allocation she received from state government.

"This is not a one-off thing and it will be an annual thing as long as I am Adun," Yeoh said.

"I am an assemblyman for all. Even though I am not a Muslim, I make sure that I take care of everybody's welfare," she added.

Yeoh said her Ramadan programme will comprise visits to at least six mosques and surau for the breaking of fast as well as presenting packets of dates to the congregants.
