22 years old aeronautical engineer left her home to study Arabic, reverts to Islam

Villupuram: A Police team of  Pachaiyappa Nagar in Ulundurpet were shocked when they  traced a missing girl  ‘studying  Arabic at an Arabic  college’ at Mangalampettai in Cuddalore district.

The episode of 22-year-old aeronautical engineering graduate from Ulundurpet started when her uncle Sundaram (40) from Neyveli, lodged a complaint about her missing at the Ulundurpet police station.

According to a  news report published  in The New Indian Express (July 19)  ‘the  woman Premalatha of Pachaiyappa Nagar in Ulundurpet was living  with her grandmother Kasthuri after her parents died a few years ago. She completed her   aeronautical engineering had gone for a three-month training and returned home a week back. On Monday, she went missing and her relatives searched for her, but to no avail ’.

The police team was surprised once they found her at an Arabic college studying Arabic

When she was brought to Ulundurpet police station on Saturday for inquiry she said she had left the house at her will .

She further said she had converted to Islam a few months ago and changed her name to Aiysha Dul Apriya. Later, she decided to join the college in Cuddalore to study Arabic. She didn’t tell this to any of her relatives as she feared they would oppose it. She said no one compelled her to convert, though she didn’t give any reason for her decision .

Police informed her relatives, who came to the station, and tried to convince her to come back home. But, she refused to and said she wanted to continue her studies .

The police then produced her before the Ulundurpet Magistrate, who ordered her to be sent back to the college
