I have read the Prophet's saying: "When one of you is invited to a banquet, he should go." [Reported by Al Bukhari and Muslim].

 

I asked myself:

Why did the majority of scholars adopted the view that invitation to the wedding cermony is obligatory according to the outward meaning of the Hadith. Even if banquet in language includes every invitation but it is exclusive to the wedding banquet?

 

So, I saw that the wisdom behind that is:

Celebrating the establishment of a new family in which children and offspring grow up as Muslims, to serve Allah as should, obeying Him, subjecting to His Commands, and abiding by His Ordinances.

 

Did not Allah (Glory be to Him) said: "And I (Allâh) created not the jinn and mankind except that they should worship Me (Alone)." [Surat Adh-Dhariyat: 56]? And keeping to that until Allah inherits the earth and all that on it.
