Enhancing the Concept of Brotherhood among Muslims

To share with Muslims around the world their sorrows and sufferings is a kind of brotherhood. It is really a very strong bond that can keep the whole nation united. The need for brotherhood among Muslims is a necessity especially nowadays for two reasons.

First, the Islamic nation seems to be the weakest nation in the world because of the great hostility among Muslims, who kill one another for trivial and unjustified causes. In fact, our nation was ruined by civil wars that outbreak between organized groups either within the same country in order to take control of the country or change certain policies, or between a country and another in the Islamic World. That is to say, criminal acts such as, murder, assassinations, and suicide bombing are rampant among Muslims, and the result was the destruction of everything good. To those criminals, we say: Let roses grow, let sparrows sing, let innocent children smile, and let Islamic World prosper. And unless we admit that we are brothers nothing good will happen on the ground. In this concern, Allah, glory to Him, says: "The believers are nothing else than brothers (in Islamic religion). So make reconciliation between your brothers, and fear Allah, that you may receive mercy" [Al-Hujjurat, 49:10]. Similarly, the Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) said: "You will not enter paradise until you believe, and you will not believe until you love one another. Shall I not guide you to something which if you carry out you will love one another? Spread salaam amongst yourselves" [Muslim]. Hence we can say that the need for brotherhood is a priority in order to live in harmony and ease.

Second, our enemies plot and keep plotting against Muslims in order not to be a leading nation as we were in the past. They distorted the image of Islam in the eyes of the world and labeled the term terrorism to everyone belongs to the realm of Islam. They nurture great enmity to Islam and Muslims, and their sole goal is to create a generation who knows nothing about Islam except its name. We, Muslims, should understand this fact, face the reality, and stop lying to ourselves. We should also understand that the enemies of Ummah do their best to make Muslims enemies of one another. But we must not forget that we are like one body, and brotherhood is obligatory not optional. Consequently, the need to be brothers and truly love each other is very important because we (Muslims) are the true communicators of peace to the whole world.

To sum up, Muslims must enhance the sense of brotherhood among themselves in order to become a strong nation and be able to stand firmly. Therefore, it is very important for them to regain their former unity, and be proud that they belong to the realm of Islam, and preserve their Islamic identity.
