Question

I am a supporter of a family which is composed of 6 individuals: A mother, a wife, and four children, whose eldest is a five primary boy. I am a teacher in KSA but the family is in Egypt, Should I go to Egypt to accompany my mother and be near her and near my children or stay for one more year to accumulate some money to support my children in the future?

It is worthy to mention the following:

My mother is 64 years old, I have a 3-floors house, and my salary in addition to the salary of my wife is enough to meet our basic needs and we save part of it.

Life in Egypt is difficult.

My dear Sheikh, could you kindly advise?

Answer

All praise be to Allah and peace be upon His Messenger, upon his family, his Companions, and those who follow him.

Let it be known that you should establish kind relationships with your mother as much as you can, however it is not necessary that a child should be in the company of his mother or near her, but the most important is not to disobey her and does not leave her in a waste.

Accordingly, if you know that your mother needs you near her to meet her basic needs and fulfill her rights, you have to do so. However, if she has someone to tender her, look after her needs, you may ask for her, establish good relationships with her, and spend money on her as long as she is content; and you do not have to go back. And Allah knows best!
