Episode (20) Usamah ibn Zayd

He was so close to the Messenger of Allah  and accompanied him in most battles.

The Messenger (peace be upon him) appointed him as a leader to a detachment two years before his death.

His heart was filled with overwhelming happiness when the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) appointed his as an emir to an army in which there were Abu Bakr and `Umar while he did not reach twenty of age.

Before the march of Usamah's army, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) died but Abu Bakr executed the will of the Messenger of Allah and sent Usamah's army which accomplished the mission and the goal successfully, brought plenty of spoils, and paved the way for Muslims to open the Levant (the region covering Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and Palestine), Egypt and the north Africa for Islam.

Whenever `Umar met him, he used to say to him: "Hello my emir."

He moved to Damascus during the rule of Mu`awiyah and stayed in Al Jarf then returned to Al Madinah Al Munawwarah until he died.

He narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) about one hundred and twenty eight Hadiths.

May Allah be pleased with him and reward him the best for his Islam.

Usamah opened his eyes to find himself in the house of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) who became delighted with his birth.

He was Usamah ibn Zayd whose father was Zayd the most beloved person to the Messenger of Allah and his mother was "Um Ayman," the nursemaid and the nanny of the Prophet (peace be upon him).

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to say about Um Ayman: She is my mother after my mother had died.

Usamah became famous for intelligence, modesty, and sacrificing himself for the sake of Islam and wisdom.

• Usamah treated his pears nicely and was very respectful to others.

He was known for courage and the proof is that he wanted to participate in the Battle of Uhud but the Prophet (peace be upon him) refused because of his young age. In the battle of Al Khandaq (Trench), Usamah wanted to participate in Jihad and he was trying to look taller by standing at his tiptoes to look tall in the sight of the Messenger of Allah, therefore the Messenger of Allah allowed him to participate in the battle.
