Question

I have got a problem which is my saliva sheds during sleep at night, and I cannot control it despite my clean teeth.

Could you kindly help because I am about to marry?

Answer

Dear valued brother, Welcome to Alukah Network.

Excessive salivation may happen because of a sore in the mouth or because of the use of certain medications, and it may occur due to unknown causes if it is not accompanied by any other symptoms.

To solve this problem, we give the patient a drug that reduces the secretion of saliva by inhibiting what we call the (Anti-cholinergic receptors). You need to see a neurologist or general practitioner to confirm the diagnosis and give you the necessary treatment. Some patients put a piece of fabric on the pillow to absorb the excess saliva.

The matter is simple and you should not panic.

May Allah guide you to what pleases Him, and may Allah bless your marriage
