Imam Al Bukhari reported in his Sahih from the Hadith of Sa`id ibn Jubayr from Ibn `Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: "I have learnt all the Muhkam Suras during the life time of Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him). I said to him: What is meant by the Muhkam? He replied: The Mufassal.[1]" The Mufassal starts with Surat Qaf until the end of the Mushaf [copy of the Qur'an].

The Pious Predecessors were keen that their children would memorize the Qur'an in young age so as to grow up while memorizing the Qur'an.

Memorizing the entire volume of the Glorious Qur'an is considered the first step for knowledge seekers. It is normal upon reading the biographies of scholars to read that they have memorized the Qur'an before the age of ten.

Therefore, we should be keen to teach our children the Glorious Qur'an at the hand of the people who know the rulings of Tajwid [the way of reciting the Qur'an well]. A reasonable Muslim should know that the best kind of money he spends on his children is paying to the one who teaches his children the Qur'an. Allah (Glory be to Him) says in the Qur'an: "And whatever you spend of good, it will be repaid to you in full, and you shall not be wronged." [Surat Al Baqarah: 272].

Is there money better than the money spent for memorizing children the book of Allah?! Memorizing the Qur'an is a protection for the children against the plots of Satan and evil people.

Many parents are keen to teach their children worldly sciences to get the highest certificates, but in the meantime, they ignore teaching them the Qur'an, so you find many people grow up, end their education, and get the highest scientific certificates without knowing how to recite the Qur'an without mistakes; such people shall not be blessed.

A Muslim should remember how happy he shall be on the Day of Recompense when he sees good deeds like mountains in his scale of good deeds because of teaching his children the Qur'an. Let us all remember the Hadith which Imam Muslim reported in his Sahih from Abu Mas`ud Al Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever guides someone to virtue will be rewarded equivalent to him who practices that good action."[2]

Is there something better than raising your children on memorizing the Glorious Qur'an?!
