Forty Da`wah words in a simple and modern way

The importance of the Qur'an

`Abdur-Rahman ibn Abza Al Khuza`y was a venerable companion, one of the freed slaves, and a poor person who did not own anything from the debris of life, but he was knowledgeable and one of those who memorized the Glorious Qur'an. `Umar ibn Al Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said about him: "Ibn Abza is one of whom Allah exalted because of the Qur'an." [1]

It was reported in Sahih Muslim that [2] Nafi` ibn `Abdul-Harith met `Umar at `Usfan and `Umar had employed him as a Zakah collector in Makkah. He (`Umar) said to him (Nafi`): Whom have you appointed as a Zakah collector over the people of the valley? He said: Ibn Abza. He said: Who is Ibn Abza? He said: He is one of our freed slaves. He (`Umar) said: So, you have appointed a freed slave over them. He said: He is well-versed in the Book of Allah (Exalted and Glorified be He) and he is well-versed in the commandments and injunctions (of the Shari`ah). `Umar said: So, the Prophet (may peace and blessings be upon him) said: By this Book, Allah would exalt some peoples and degrade others."

Have you seen how the Book of Allah exalts low people and freed slaves? Therefore, Sulayman ibn Mahran Al A`mash, who was one of the Followers, said: "Had it been that I memorize the Qur'an, I would have become one of the groceries of Kufa."

He meant that he would have been an ordinary person who sells vegetables, but Allah exalted him in ranks because of the Qur'an.

Mujahid ibn Jabr (may Allah bestow mercy on his soul) —who was the freed slave of `Abdullah ibn As-Sa'ib, a weak and a poor person, but Allah exalted him in ranks because of the Qur'an and became the leader of Qur'an commentators at his time and one of the grand students of Ibn `Abbas— said: I was well-versed of the Qur'an to the extent that I recited the Qur'an thirty times to Ibn `Abbas. Moreover, Ibn `Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) used to serve him and hold the bridle of his mount so that he would ride it.

Allah (Glory be to Him) exalted the venerable Companion `Amr ibn Salamah Al Jermy in ranks because of his memorization to the Qur'an and he became an imam to his people while his age was six or seven.[3]

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The one who was devoted to the Qur'an will be told on the Day of Resurrection: Recite and ascend (in ranks) as you used to recite when you were in the world. Your rank will be at the last Ayah you recite."[4]

Dear father, be keen to send your children to the sessions of teaching the Qur'an because they fill their times with what is beneficial to them in this world and in the Hereafter. Youth should also join these sessions and benefit from, and the society should provide them with material and moral support.

May Allah grant us success, and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad.
