Mujahid reported: I accompanied Ibn `Umar to Medina and I did not hear him narrating from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) except one Hadith. He said: "We were with the Prophet (peace be upon him) and a spadix of date-palm tree was brought to him. On that he said: Amongst the trees, there is a tree which resembles a Muslim. I wanted to say that it was the date-palm tree but as I was the youngest of all (of them) I kept quiet. Thereupon the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: it was the date-palm tree."[1]

- Ibn `Umar's reverence to the Prophet (peace be upon him), therefore he did not narrate about him except for a need for fear of adding or omitting from the narration.[2]

- Ibn `Umar's understanding and intelligence since his young age where it was thrown in himself that it is the palm-tree because of the Prophet's words "date-palm tree" which was brought to the Prophet (peace be upon him).

- `Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) desired that his son `Abdullah would answer in the presence of the Prophet (peace be upon him)[3] to draw nearer to him and perhaps he would get an invocation from the Prophet (peace be upon him).

- Young people should respect the old particularly if they are scholars and not to hasten to answer a question from their understanding even if they believe it is correct.

- The Prophet's likening of a Muslim with date-palm tree in regard to benefit. The benefit of a date-palm tree exists in all its parts and continuous in all conditions, so since it grows up until it becomes dry, it is eaten by all forms and all its parts are useful even its core is given to animals as fodder. Moreover, its fiber is used for making ropes and from its palm houses are built. Likewise, the benefit of a Muslim is general in all conditions and his benefits are continuous for himself and for others even after his death.

- Giving examples, asking questions, and giving puzzles to increase understanding, deliver the information, to be more acceptable, and establish the intended meaning in minds.

- Desirability of bashfulness unless it leads to the mission of an interest.

- Part of father's affection and love to his son is that `Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) desired that his son would gain nearness and high status at the Prophet.[4]

- Keenness to choose righteous Company particularly during traveling.

- The impact of Companionship on a person is very important because Mujahid got affected by the company of Ibn `Umar, benefited from his knowledge, and reported to us this Hadith and other Hadiths.

- Keenness to speak few except there is a benefit and whenever a person keeps silent, it will be better for him.

- That young Companion was honored by attending a great session, but rather it is the greatest and most honorable session a person can attend for it is an honor and glory for him to be with the Prophet.

- The prestige of the Prophet's session because the Prophet (peace be upon him) has a great status in the souls of the Companions.

- Good rearing and behavior of that Companion.

- `Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) became delighted by the excellence of his son and the emergence of his smartness in such young age.
