The issues that the slaves will be questioned about on the Day of Ressurection

The slaves on the Day of Resurrection will be asked about everything that they did in the world. Allah Almighty said:

{وَلَتُسْأَلُنَّ عَمَّا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ}

“And you will surely be questioned about what you used to do.” [Al Nahl: 93]

And He said:

﴿ فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَسْأَلَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ * عَمَّا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ }

“So by your Lord, We will surely question them all. About what they used to do” [Al Hijr: 92-93]

But there are some deeds that Allah Almighty detailed that the slave will be asked about so that the slave can take more heed over it. Some of them are more serious than others if they were not learnt so that we can be more frightened of them. They are as follows:

1.Disbelief and polytheism

Allah Almighty said:

“And they assign to what they do not know a portion of that which We have provided them. By Allah , you will surely be questioned about what you used to invent.” [Al Nahl: 56]

The Almighty said:

“Then on the Day of Resurrection He will disgrace them and say, "Where are My 'partners' for whom you used to oppose [the believers]?" Those who were given knowledge will say, "Indeed disgrace, this Day, and evil are upon the disbelievers” [Al Nahl: 27]

2.Lying about the reality of the angels

{وَجَعَلُوا الْمَلَائِكَةَ الَّذِينَ هُمْ عِبَادُ الرَّحْمَنِ إِنَاثاً أَشَهِدُوا خَلْقَهُمْ سَتُكْتَبُ شَهَادَتُهُمْ وَيُسْأَلُونَ}

“And they have made the angels, who are servants of the Most Merciful, females. Did they witness their creation? Their testimony will be recorded, and they will be questioned.” [Al Zukhruf: 19]

3.Agreements and commitments

Allah Almighty said:

{وَأَوْفُواْ بِالْعَهْدِ إِنَّ الْعَهْدَ كَانَ مَسْؤُولاً}

“And fulfill [every] commitment. Indeed, the commitment is ever [that about which one will be] questioned.” [Al Isra: 34]

And He said:

{وَلَقَدْ كَانُوا عَاهَدُوا اللَّهَ مِن قَبْلُ لَا يُوَلُّونَ الْأَدْبَارَ وَكَانَ عَهْدُ اللَّهِ مَسْؤُولاً}

“And they had already promised Allah before not to turn their backs and flee. And ever is the promise to Allah [that about which one will be] questioned.” [Al Ahzab: 15]

4.The comforts of the world that Allah has comforted it with

Allah Almighty said:

{ثُمَّ لَتُسْأَلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ النَّعِيمِ}

“Then you will surely be asked that Day about pleasure” [Al Takathur: 8]

The questioning of Allah Almighty about this pleasure is so that His slaves can declare the pleasures upon them. Has this led to the reality of these pleasures or not?

Their right is to be thankful. If they were from those who are thankful to Allah Almighty by speaking about the pleasures of Allah Almighty and using it for His obedience and what is permissible, then they have paid its right. They have received the acceptance of Allah Almighty. If they are not thankful to Allah Almighty, (their (situation) will be serious upon them. In Sahih Muslim, there is the Hadith of Anas ibn Malik (peace be upon him) who said: the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Allah is pleased with His servant who says: Al-Hamdu lillah While taking a morsel of food tnd while drinking”[1]

5.Knowledge, hearing, sight and the heart

Allah Almighty said:

{وَلاَ تَقْفُ مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهِ عِلْمٌ إِنَّ السَّمْعَ وَالْبَصَرَ وَالْفُؤَادَ كُلُّ أُولئِكَ كَانَ عَنْهُ مَسْؤُولاً}

“And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge. Indeed, the hearing, the sight and the heart - about all those [one] will be questioned.” [Al Isra: 36]

Qatada said: “do not say that you saw what you did not see, that you heard what you did not hear and that you knew what you did not know because Allah Almighty will ask about all of that”

In a statement –as preceded, every deed of a person will be questioned on the Day of Resurrection but what came in the narrations are questions about individual intentions. We ask Allah Almighty for lightening (the questioning) and dealing with them.
