1- Fulfilling the role of brotherhood which entails not lying to others:

At-Tirmidhy reported on the authority of Abu Hurayrah who narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "A Muslim is a brother of another Muslim, so he should not betray him, nor should he lie to him, nor leave him without assistance. A Muslim is inviolable to his Muslim brother in regard to: his honor, his property, and his blood. Piety is here(in the heart). It is enough to know a man is evil when he belittles his brother, Muslim."

2- Practical example:

Man should give an example to people around him, particularly those under his guardianship: Imam Ahmad and Abu Dawud reported on the authority of `Abdullah ibn `Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: "My mother called me one day when the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was sitting in our house. She said: Come here and I shall give you something. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) asked her: What did you intend to give him? She replied: I intended to give him some dates. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: If you were not to give him anything, a lie would be recorded against you."

This practical example graduates a generation that does not know lie. In this Hadith, the Prophet (peace be upon him) teaches parents how to be a model example for their children, teaching them not to lie, so children shall grow up as truthful.

This practical example should be in the special relation between parents and children, a teacher and his students, a manager and his employees, and a head and his branch. On the general level, our model example is the Prophet (peace be upon him) who has taught the entire world the meaning of truthfulness and loyalty. He (peace be upon him) said: "If Allah bestows on me blessings as much as the number of these pebbles, I will split them between you, then you shall find me not miser, liar, coward." [Reported by Muslim].

The most hateful quality to the Prophet (peace be upon him) was laying, so we should follow the example of the Prophet (peace be upon him), his guidance, his footsteps, and his Sunan.

3- Accompanying the truth:

This is what the Lord of all the Worlds exhorted us to, where Allah (He may be Glorified) says: "O you who believe! Be afraid of Allâh, and be with those who are true (in words and deeds)." [Surat At-Tawbah: 119].

As-Sa`d (may Allah bestow mercy on his soul) said in his Tafsir to the previous Ayah: "And be with those who are true (in words and deeds)" in their sayings, actions, and their conditions.

Those whose words are truthful and their actions and conditions are truthful, free of indolence and slackness and free of bad intentions, including sincerity and good intention.

(Tafsir As-Sa`dy, p. 355).
