UK Cashier Insults Muslim, Wishes Him Death

A British cashier at a Birmingham store has insulted a Muslim customer, swearing at his face and wishing him death over confusion on carrier bags price.

“He was confused that there were no carrier bags, and when he asked her for help she didn’t seem to have much time for him,” a witness, who wished to remain anonymous, told the MailOnline.

“Then he made a comment about the way she was speaking to him and she just exploded.”

The drama unfolded in Lidl store in Balsall Heath, Birmingham, when a man got into an argument with the cashier in front of other customers because he did not know that carrier bags in the supermarket must be paid for.

It was revealed after a video recorded the encounter between the cashier and the apparently Muslim customers.

The witness, who heard the row, said that the man protested saying, “You’re having a bad day and you’re just taking it out on me”.

The cashier responds with: “I was having a good day until I saw your f***ing face.”

The cashier repeatedly swears at the man in the clip taken on Tuesday, while customers watch, and describes him as an ‘arrogant Muslim’.

At one point she appears to address him as “Mohammed” adding “Go on, you Muslim, die.”

Apologies

A Lidl spokesman expressed apologies over the shameful behavior of the cashier shown in the video.

“We were extremely concerned to learn of this incident and we are looking into this as a matter of urgency with this store and the persons involved,” he told MailOnline.

“We expect a high level of customer service from all members of staff so we are very disappointed to see this and certainly do not condone the behavior shown in this video.

“We apologize to anyone who may have been offended or upset by this and we are now conducting an investigation as per our internal processes,” he added.

Britain is home to a sizable Muslim minority of nearly 2.7 million.

British Muslims and mosques have been potential targets for dozens of attacks after the killing of a British soldier in Woolwich, south London, last May.

Tell Mama project, which monitors anti-Muslim attacks in Britain, has also reported 212 “anti-Muslim incidents” after the Woolwich attack, including 11 attacks on mosques.
