Supplicating between the Adhaan (Call to Prayer) and Iqaamah (Starting the Prayer):

The Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said: “Supplication between the Adhaan and Iqaamah is not rejected.” So people asked: “What should we ask for?” He replied: “Ask Allah for His forgiveness.” (Reported by Tirmidhi)

Jabir Bin ‘Abdullah (radhyAllahu ‘anhu) narrated that Allah’s Messenger (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said, “Whoever after listening to the Adhan says, ‘Allah umma Rabba hadhihi-d-da’ watit-tammati was-Salat il qa’imati, ati Muhammadan al-wasilata wal-fadilata, wab’ athhu maqaman mahmudan-il-ladhi wa’ adtahu (O Allah! Rabb of this perfect call (of not ascribing partners to You) and of the regular prayer which is going to be established! Kindly give Muhammad the right of intercession and superiority and send him (on the Day of Judgment) to the best and the highest place in Paradise which You promised him)’, then intercession for me will be permitted for him on the Day of Resurrection).” (Reported by Bukhari, Vol. 1, Hadeeth 588)

Supplications/praising Allah after prayer:

The Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said: “Allah will forgive the sins, even if they were as much as the foam of the sea, for anyone who exalts Allah thirty-three times saying ‘SubhaanAllah’, praises Him thirty-three times saying ‘Al-Hamdulillaah’ and glorifies Him thirty-three times saying ‘Allahu Akbar’, and then completes the supplications to be one hundred by saying: “La illaha ilAllah wa’hdahu, La sharikaAllah lahulmulk, wa lahul hamd. Wa Allah kuli shaynqadeer.” (‘None has the right to be worshipped except Allah alone, without partner. To Him belong sovereignty and praise, and He is over all things Omnipotent.)’” (Reported by Muslim)

Supplicating during the virtuous time on Fridays:

The Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said: “There is a virtuous time every Friday; never does a Muslim supplicate during it except that Allah grants him what he asks for.” (Reported by Bukhari and Muslim)

Supplicating for a well-balanced life:

‘Abdullah Bin Jabir (radhyAllahu ‘anhu) narrated that he heard Allah’s Messenger (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said, “There is an hour during the night in which no Muslim individual will ask Allah for good in this world and the next [i.e., reciting: ‘Rabbana atina fi donya hasana, wa fil akhirati hasana, waqina adabannar.’ (Qur’an 2:201)], without His giving it to him. And that applies to every night.” (Reported by Muslim, Hadeeth 1654)

Abu Hurairah (radhyAllahu ‘anhu) narrated that the Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said, “Seventy angels have been put in charge of it (i.e. the Yamani corner), so if anyone says, ‘O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in this world and the next. Our Rabb, bring us a blessing in this world and a blessing in the next, and guard us from the punishment of Hell’, they will say ‘Ameen.’”(Reported by Tirmidhi, Hadeeth 2590 and Ibn Majah)

Invoking Allah to bless His Messenger (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam):

‘Abdullah Bin Amr Bin Al As (radhyAllahu ‘anhu) narrated that Allah’s Messenger (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said, “When you hear the Mu’adhdhin, repeat what he says. Then invoke a blessing on me, for everyone who invokes a blessing on me will receive ten blessings from Allah. Then beg from Allah al-Wasilah for me, which is a rank in Paradise fitting for only one of Allah’s Servants, and I hope that I may be that one. If anyone who asks that I be given the Wasilah, he will be assured of my intercession.” (Reported by Muslim, Hadeeth 747)

Anas Bin Malik (radhyAllahu ‘anhu) narrated that Allah’s Messenger (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said, “He who invokes one blessings upon me, Allah will shower ten blessings upon him and obliterate ten (of his) sins and elevate him by ten ranks.” (Reported by Tirmidhi, Hadeeth 922 and Nasa’i)

“‘Abdullah Bin Amr (radhyAllahu ‘anhu) narrated that He who invokes blessings upon Allah’s Messenger once, Allah and His Angels shower seventy blessings upon him.” (Reported by Tirmidhi, Hadeeth 935 and Ahmad)

Not associating partner with Allah, prayer, Zakat and doing good to kin:

Abu Ayyub (radhyAllahu ‘anhu) narrated that a man came to the Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) and said, “Direct me to a deed, which draws me near to Paradise and takes me away from the Fire (of Hell).” Upon this he (the Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam)) said: “You worship Allah and never associate anything with Him, establish prayer, and pay Zakat, and do good to your kin. When he turned his back, Allah’s Messenger (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) remarked, “If he adheres to what he has been ordered to do, he would enter Paradise.” (Reported by Muslim, Vol. 1, Hadeeth 13)

Performing Hajj (Pilgrimage to Makkah):

Abu Hurairah (radhyAllahu ‘anhu) narrated that the Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said, “Whoever perform Hajj for Allah’s sake only and does not have sexual relations with his wife, and does not do evil or sins then he will return (after Hajj free from all sins) as if he were born anew.” (Reported by Bukhari, Vol. 2, Hadeeth 596)

‘Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that she said, “O Allah’s Messenger! We consider Jihad as the best deed. Should we not fight in Allah’s cause?” He said, “The best Jihad (for women) is Hajj-mabrur (i.e. Hajj which is done according to the Prophet’s tradition and is accepted by Allah).” (Reported by Bukhari, Vol. 4, Hadeeth 43)

 ‘Umrah (Minor Pilgrimage) during Ramadhaan:

The Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said: “Performing ‘Umrah during it (Ramadhaan) is like performing Hajj with me.” (Reported by Bukhari and Muslim)

Improving one’s Religion (Islam):

Abu Hurairah (radhyAllahu ‘anhu) narrated that Allah’s Messenger (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said, “If anyone of you improves his religion then his good deeds will be rewarded ten times to seven hundred times for each good deed and a bad deed will be recorded as it is.” (Reported by Bukhari, Vol. 1, Hadeeth 40)
