Islamic Center of Naperville in Illinoi opens its door to Public

Naperville, Illinoi - Hundreds of people packed inside the Islamic Center of Naperville in Illinoi, U.S.A for an open house hosted by the Muslim community recently to hear about Islam and ask questions.

The Islamic Center of Naperville opened its doors and welcomed visitors as part of Open Mosque Day.

Over 1000 people engaged in interactive booths on different topics like 'Meet the Imam', Islamic artifacts and the basics of Islam to help break down common misconceptions about the religion. Many Attendees of open Mosque received a lesson in Islam and after, had a chance to ask questions. Several people received a copy of Qur’an and small books of Islam. Free Mediterranean food was served for everyone. There were various booths in the gym to learn about the mosque and various aspects of the Muslim community, Islam, art.

The program for the day included a mosque tour, a short presentation, a prayer observance.

This ceremony was followed by welcome address by the President of Islamic Center of Naperville Shoaib Quadri. He said that the purpose of this program is to serve community and build bridges between all the community and different religions. Quadri also thanked Mayor Naperville Office Krishna Portal and the Naperville police for their support in Community. Mayor Naperville Steve Chirico arrived at the ‎event day and address, he said we need to continue this kind of event in your community and city.

The Qur’an recitation was performed by young student Hamza and Adhan for zuhar prayers also performed by Hamza.

Shaikh Rizwan Ali, the imam at Islamic Center of Naperville, said our mosque and interfaith team hold the open house to provide answers to anyone with concerns or questions and removed negatives images about Islam & Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him).

Yousuf Siddiqui, ICN interfaith Committee said we are building bridge to understanding Islam. Syed Ashfaq Hussain, vice president & in charge political affair ICN, said we want to have an open dialogue with the community to get to know them and them to know their Muslim neighbors.

Islamic Center of Naperville was established in 1992 with 40 families and today there are over 4000 families with professionals in the field of medicine, information technology and other fields. The ICN community largely consists of people from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Africa and Arabs. The Open day Mosque was an informative day and the guests departed with offering thanks to the Muslims for hosting the wonderful event in Naperville.
